AudienceWho would be the audience for my media product?

My magazine appeals to the Hip Hop, Urban, R&B area of the music industry. You can tell this straight away by looking at the model on the front cover, even the text and name of the magazine (RE-VERSE) is very urban, and I have definitely shown that this product is for the Hip Hop, Rap and R&B genres. Also it appeals to a certain age, this magazine was aimed at people from the age of 16-21 and when I done a survey 100% of people agreed that this was the age range that my magazine was aimed at.

Out of 5 music genres on a survey 33.3% said this was a Rap magazine and 64.7% said this magazine was and R&B magazine, these 2 genres of music are what I based my magazine on, and from the results it shows me that I have portrayed my magazine as I wanted to.

How did I attract the audience?

I attracted the audience by the colours of the magazine, style and images I used, throughout the magazine I used the colours blue and red, this meant the magazine felt together rather than having colours all over the place. The style of the magazine is very similar to a common magazine, which is simple layouts, but the simplicity of the design makes the magazine easy on the eye.

In a survey 66.6% liked the images and design of my magazine.

What kind of media institution might

distribute my media product? As my magazine is similar to any other magazine and it conforms to the normal magazine criteria, I feel that my magazine will be distributed in a similar way to any other mainstream magazine, such as XXL & VIBE my 2 main inspirations, and it would be sold in stores such as,

• Tesco

• Sainsbury

• HMV

• WHSmith

And any small newsagents

I may also consider distributing my magazine online using BAUER or IPC.

What have I learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have developed my Photoshop skills a lot since my first project, I now know how to use layers, brushes and edit pictures fully. These skills developed in a major way since my first project.

I've learnt how to use blogger.com as I’ve never used it before, I created my own blog that contains all my media work so far and I am comfortable with using it, and it has become a very easy method of keeping all my work on show.

Also I used slideshare.net to upload Powerpoints onto blogger.

In my magazine I used a specific font for the title, the font I found was from dafont.com, a site that gives you many varieties of fonts that are suitable for a magazine masthead.

A very useful tool was surveymonkey.com, this allowed me to create surveys that people could respond to so that it gave me the answer to questions about my magazine, so what they liked about magazines, their music genre, age range, and other questions that helped me in creating my magazine.

Looking at my preliminary task, what have I learnt in the progression from it to the full

product?I’ve really improved in using Photoshop and I can now use it independently or for fun, I’ve also learnt a lot about research methods and the use of PowerPoint and surveymonkey.com and this is essential as research is the most important part in getting a successful product.

I feel all together I have progressed a lot, and if I was to do the preliminary tasks again I would make various improvements.
