Many thanks to the P&C who recently funded two more ‘engine room’ curved desks for Kindergarten and Year One classes for 2014. At the meeting on Monday 14th, final arrangements were made for our family fun evening at the Narrandera Fisheries. Originally proposed for Thursday, 21st November, the evening is now planned for Friday 22nd November from 6.00 - 9.00pm. (There was a clash with the Pre-School Christmas Party) Lee Baumgartner kindly offered the venue to us and is organising many fun filled activities for all ages, with support from the staff and the P&C. More information is included further on in the newsletter. Please read all about this wonderful fun filled night and fill out the form required for catering purposes. Lee is also organising a Fishing Hamper as a raffle, $1.00 per ticket. Thank you Lee for your wonderful suggestion and our P&C for funding this great evening for our school community. Yesterday we all looked ‘smick’ for our 2013 school photo shoot. Photos should be back in the next 4 to 5 weeks. Any student who was away from school and would like to purchase a class photo or who were here on the day and had their individual photo taken but forgot to bring in their envelope, may order these and pay online at www.schoolphotographer.com.au within the next 7 days. I am off to the State Principal’s Conference in Sydney for the remainder of the week. With the recent change in Government it will be very interesting to hear what plans have been made for Education in the near future. This year our special guest speakers are; Ms Ita Buttrose - 2013 Australian of the Year Dr Peter Johnson - Kokkola Finland Ben Jensen - Grafton Institute with Ann McIntyre a DEC Director Annabel Crabb - ABC Political Correspondent, TV Host Dr Tim Sharp - Happiness Institute In the last week of Term 4, NEIS has traditionally organised an excursion to Griffith to go bowling and to the movies. It is a wonderful way to celebrate the end of another year. This is a whole school excursion and there will be no teaching staff at school on this day. The day costs $30.00 per student which includes Bus Travel - $10.00, Movie - $7.50, Bowling - $6.00, Ice-cream/drink/popcorn - $6.50. The P&C have asked that we give parents plenty of warning so that families can get their money in as leading up to Christmas is an expensive time of the year for everyone. A payment slip will be included on every newsletter from now until Tuesday, 10th December. The excursion is planned for Monday 16th December and is the highlight of the year for many students. The Zoomobile will be visiting NEIS on Thursday 7th November. The cost is $5.00 per student. Please send this money in and as this is at school, no permission note is required.
