From the Principal .... Sharing the good news! Naracoorte South Primary School Dear Families The last few weeks have certainly been unseling, challenging and unpredicta- ble as we all start to grapple with this new reality. Our school community, always strong and cohesive, have pulled together in a way we can all be proud of, as we support each other through the uncertainty. Everyone is doing the best they can in the circumstances and we need to be able to lean on each other when we need to. That's what wonderful communies like NSPS do in mes like these. The four days of week 11 are Student Free Days. Teachers and SSOs will use these days to plan as best we can for what term 2 will look like for our learn- ers. As we write this, schools will be open for students who need to aend in term 2. Students who don't aend will receive educaon at home, either online or in a form that is accessible to their family. We respect that families are anxious about next term and have many quesons. At NSPS we want to get this right and will connue to update you about how this will look, so please ensure you keep checking emails, SeeSaw, Skoolbag and Facebook. There is no expectaon that students need to complete work next week- of course they can work through what was given to them by the school if they want to- teachers however will not be able to check this work as they will be busy designing the curriculum delivery for term 2. In the meanme, it's important that you look aſter your family's mental, emoonal and physical health as best you can. Ensuring you get some exercise and me outside every day is important, as is liming social media and news exposure, parcularly for young children. It might be the me you create new family rounes: movie nights, board game challenges, family walks, trying new recipes, calling relaves etc. Children are confused, disappointed and a lile scared right now. Allowing them the opportunies to talk through these emoons while reassuring them of the measures you are pung in place to keep them safe is crucial. It's up to the adults in children's lives to help them navigate this me in the most nurturing way we can. As this is the last newsleer for the term, we wanted to celebrate the wonder- ful learning our students have taken part in so far. While not the term we were hoping for, we certainly have lots to be proud of. Dear Families The last few weeks have certainly been unsettling, challenging and unpredicta-ble as we all start to grapple with this new reality. Our school community, always strong and cohesive, have pulled together in a way we can all be proud of, as we support each other through the uncertainty. Everyone is doing the best they can in the circumstances and we need to be able to lean on each other when we need to. That's what wonderful communities like NSPS do in times like these. The four days of week 11 are Student Free Days. Teachers and SSOs will use these days to plan as best we can for what term 2 will look like for our learn-ers. As we write this, schools will be open for students who need to attend in term 2. Students who don't attend will receive education at home, either online or in a form that is accessible to their family. We respect that families are anxious about next term and have many questions. At NSPS we want to get this right and will continue to update you about how this will look, so please ensure you keep checking emails, SeeSaw, Skoolbag and Facebook. There is no expectation that students need to complete work next week- of course they can work through what was given to them by the school if they want to- teachers however will not be able to check this work as they will be busy designing the curriculum delivery for term 2. In the meantime, it's important that you look after your family's mental, emotional and physical health as best you can. Ensuring you get some exercise and time outside every day is important, as is limiting social media and news exposure, particularly for young children. It might be the time you create new family routines: movie nights, board game challenges, family walks, trying new recipes, calling relatives etc. Children are confused, disappointed and a little scared right now. Allowing them the opportunities to talk through these emotions while reassuring them of the measures you are putting in place to keep them safe is crucial. It's up to the adults in children's lives to help them navigate this time in the most nurturing way we can. As this is the last newsletter for the term, we wanted to celebrate the wonder-ful learning our students have taken part in so far. While not the term we were hoping for, we certainly have lots to be proud of.

I travelled down to Kingston for the tryouts on Wednesday 26th of Febru-ary with Archie, Jack B, Will and Austin. At first I didn’t think that I would make the team, but I did. I was so excited! I met my teammates at the first training in Kingston the following week. My teammates came from Keith, Bordertown, Lucindale and Naracoorte. We then went down to Kingston for the trainings the following two Wednesdays. Our first game was against Lower Eyre Peninsula we ended up losing by 17 runs. It was probably my best game as I got 19 runs and a wicket. Our sec-ond game was against Southern York Peninsula we ended up winning by 54 runs, I got 4 runs. Our third game was against Southern Valley, we won by 69 runs. I got 1 wicket. Our last game was against Mt Barker, we won by 5 runs. I got 4 runs and 1 wicket. I really enjoyed myself and I even got to meet Alex Carey, he plays for Australia in T20s and ODIs, he also plays for the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL. Lochie

Wow what a term! We have covered a lot of learning, despite the disruptions. We started the term with Basketball with Matho. He taught us a range of games to improve our skills in dribbling, shooting and defending. We have been learning about numbers and 2 and 3-D shapes in Maths. Mrs Spratt has been teaching us about hundereds, tens and ones, and multiplication. Mrs Flint has been teaching us about different ways of adding numbers together. We were lucky enough to have some special visitors. Georgia and Beau bought in their puppies and dogs for a visit. Plus several students bought in birthday cakes! Yum! We have been doing our own research projects on endangered animals with Mrs Spratt too. We have chosen an animal that interests us, found out some interesting facts about them then presented them as a poster. We have been learning about writing narratives in English using the 7 steps of writing. We practised writing sizzling starts to make our writing more in-teresting. We learned how to tighten tension and use dialogue. We have enjoyed the opportunity to work on a number of different literacy activities during Daily 5. We chose between reading to self, reading to a part-ner, writing, practising our spelling words or using reading eggs. During this time of uncertainty, we have also written letters of hope and sup-port for the residents of Moreton Bay house. With our buddy class, Room 10, we have also personalised quilt and pillow inserts for dollars for doonas and written inspirational messages to display at the entrance to the school.

From Mrs Flint, Mrs Spratt and the students from Room 12, we hope you

stay safe and positive during this challenging time. Take care of your-

selves and each other.
