ORIGIN OF NANOCOMPOSITE

Toyota central research labs in Japan teamed up with ube industries ltd, a Japanese resin supplier to produce a new composite polymer, consisting of Nylon-6 interspersed with layers of montmorillonite.

IMPORTANCE OF NANO FILLER AND COMPOSITE

• “NANO” Appears to be the catch word today.• Why?• It has led to new developments of Materials

science ,Polymer science ,Electronics and Bio – Engineering, etc.• Same materials can be engineered for new

properties :dramatic changes can be obtained by reducing the size.

• Material behave differently in form of Nano-size, Thin Films etc.

• Size dependency of Electrical and Mechanical ,and Optical Properties.

• Quantum size effects .• Structural changes induced by such

dimensional control----Mechanical props.• Very high surface area made available.
