Welcome to week 3. We have seen many children begin to return now and it is so nice to see all the smiling faces. To assist us with planning, could parents please make contact with the school, if you require your child/ren to return 5 days a week. We would like to announce to our community the wonderful, happy and sad news regarding Mrs Stanton. We are very proud to announce that Mrs Stanton has received a promotion and will be taking over the role of School Administration Manager at Toormina High School next term. We are very happy for her and know she will be dearly missed. Toormina High School have a very special individual coming there way. Social distancing of adults and hygiene practices are in full swing with students and adults washing hands and sanitizing regularly. We also have our enhanced cleaning and surfaces are being repeatedly cleaned over the day. We would like to reinforce that, at this time, parents should only come onto school grounds if they are collecting or delivering learning packs to the office. Please do not visit classrooms. Our drop off and collection zone is at the front of the school and we remind parents not to use the pool carpark. It is also recommended that parents remain in or near their car and please maintain social diatancing with each other while outside the school gate. This process has been working really well and we thank the parents for doing your best to assist us. Don’t forget your name tag and if you have not received a tag, please let us know. Every day your child is returning to school, they are required to bring the loaned school device that they have been using for home learning. If children are returning full time, these devices need to be returned and not taken home again. Thank you for looking after these devices so well. Every device has been returned in wonderful condition. The year 6 shirts have arrived and must be paid for on collection from the office. They look fantastic and year 6 are so proud of their design. Please continue to remind students in this transition back to school that the code of behaviour still exists. We have issued a few warnings to allow time for this transition to settle, however behaviour expectations have not changed. Staff are moving to the Departments on line bahaviour tracking system. This will record positive and negative behaviours. This week students will begin to receive merit awards again. If your child is working from home, they may

We are ready and have begun our Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2020. Again, this year we are asking students in Years 3-6 to enter their own reading into the Premier’s Reading Challenge site. This is found through the student portal and all students have been shown how to do this. Teachers are happy to support students do this as well. Building ownership of learning is just another important step in creating independent learners. Students in K-2 will all participate in the challenge as well. Their class teachers will enter their reading logs for them. In an approved series of books on the PRC booklist (found on the website), you can read any 3 books as PRC books.
The certificates you can receive for completing the Challenge are:
