The Pearl dialogue journal

Your Name_____________

Partner’s Name_____________

A dialogue journal is a written conversation between you and a partner. You will be writing about what you have read in The Pearl. Some things you may wish to talk about:

Ask a question about the story for your partner to answer Make an observation Discuss your likes/dislikes from the story so far Discuss the characters, plot, or setting Predict what might happen

Each response should be at least 4 sentences. Use the next 2 pages to write down your conversation. The partner who is the oldest will start the conversation. Good luck!

EXAMPLE You: I was surprised when the doctor wouldn’t help Kino and Juana with Coyotito’s scorpion sting. It made me very angry. How did it make you feel? How do you think Kino felt? Partner: I was angry too. It made me very sad that the doctor would not help them. I think Kino was angry too. It was wrong of the doctor not to help them just because they are poor.
