Getting Your Flu Shot? By: Michelle Shawnego/HR Generalist
In our efforts in promoting a healthy and productive work place we would like to remind everyone Flu Shots are available as we enter flu season.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine each year.
A flu vaccine is needed every year because flu viruses are constantly changing. It’s not unusual for new flu viruses to appear each year. The flu vaccine is formulated each year to keep up with the flu viruses as they change.
Getting vaccinated each year provides the best protection against influenza throughout flu season.

Q: What is your role at NAHC?RB: I am a part of the Data and Evaluation team. The Data and Evaluation team is responsible for reporting data about different groups, events and services to our respective grant funders. I also cover intakes in San Francisco, filling in for Kelly Castel, and I will also be starting HIV testing and counseling as soon as the Oakland office gets approved as an HIV testing site.Q: What do you do to stay healthy? RB: Try to eat right. Exercise. Work out at the gym, ride my bike. I relieve stress at the gym. Q: What tribe are you? RB: NavajoQ: What makes you proud of being Native? RB: The connectiveness. It’s really more intertwined than any other community I’ve been a part of. It’s cohesive. Everyone is interwoven and I feel connected. Q: What do you like about working at NAHC? RB: There’s a lot to like, I like the people that I work with. I want to be a doctor in the future so working here is related to my future aspirations, but I’m also helping out the Native community. I like participating different events, I know I’m doing an administrative part but I also get to get some community involvement. Q: A’s or Giants? RB: A’s.Q: Where did you grow up? RB: Hayward.Q: What’s your favorite part about the holiday season? RB: I like seeing the excitement in the kids faces, seeing them open presents. I feel like the holidays are all about the kids. Q: What’s your favorite part about the winter? RB: The fog. Not the rain so much but the fog. I like running in the morning and not being able to see far.
