Being the first in Kerala to introduce a world wide programme the management intends to create an efficient employable person in each student in various fields of productive marketing and information technology. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Chairman and Managing Trustee Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas and SAP Operational Specialist Ms. Joyce Priya on 1st March, 2016. Students of Management and Engineering as well as faculty members will be benefitted by this programme. Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas, Chairman & Managing Trustee, added glittering feathers to the Crown of NGI, enhancing the lineament. Our Chairman & Managing Trustee has been elected as Senate Member of Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). He was also awarded the prestigious Gandhi Award by Mahathma Gandhi Peace Foundation and K3A Top 10 Achievement Award (Kerala Advertising Agencies Association) for moulding prodigies who would go on to play vital role in Nation Building. Rosaiah for his unparallel initiatives, commitments, excellence and contributions in the field of education that distinguishes him as the Edupreneur of the Year 2015. Being Partner in Infosys Advance Campus Connect programme, our college has always shared a glowing rapport with Infy. This year also 82 students were selected by the Infosys to serve as Engineers. Scintillating performance of students of NGI made us proud. They fluttered out with their sterling academic performance as 11 students bagged ranks in the university examinations. Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre has joined the prestigious list of Accredited colleges in India to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) autonomous body of the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India which assesses and accredits institutions of higher education in India. The year long process of accreditation culminated in a three day assessment visit of NAAC Expert Peer Team to the college. The NAAC accredits quality institutions in terms of its promoters, faculty members, staff and will open up more research avenues to the students & faculty members and will encourage top placement companies and employers to visit the college and this accreditation will enable employers to select students based on the assured quality of education. NCERC, ECE department students Arjun P, Sonu B, Jithin V and Manju M bagged the 2 nd prize and Silver Award worth rupees 1 Lakh in the KPIT SPARKLE 2016 in All India Contest of Science & Engineering for the most innovative minds to improve the condition of energy and transportation in the country. This contest attracted 1,700 ideas from 10,000 participants from 27 states in India, out of which 54 innovative ideas were selected for the grand finale. They submitted an innovative project in IC Engine Efficiency Increase without Compensating the Present Engine Design. Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust has always rewarded academic achievements of students. Nehru Vignjan Awards symbolize the Group`s culture of recognizing merit. Those students who secure upto 3rd Rank in the University examinations are rewarded with Rs.1 lakh and a gold medal and each department topper is conferred with a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- NCERC Principal Dr. A. S Varadarajan and Mr. Arun Kumar (NSS Program Officer) receive special appreciation award of NSS Academic Consultants in Engineering Program, conducted at NCERC by Dr. Kuncheria P Isaac, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, APJAKTU. Sreelakshmi. K. S (M. Tech Energy Systems, NCERC) has been awarded for the 2nd best innovative project in the All India Level project Contest. She received a cash prize of Rs.50,000, from Hon. Minister for Labour, Mr. Shibu Baby John. Nehru Corporate Placements & Industry Relations creates all time record on Job offers. NCP & IR is a division of NGI,instituted to explore the world of employment and new career avenues for every student of NGI. It has a team of professionals drawn from various industry backgrounds and they work on building relationship with the industry to enable multiple level engagements such as Placem ents,Training,Alliances,Projects etc.It also helps students in career planning through counseling wherein they can gather information about themselves in terms of their interest, aptitude and abilities so that they can choose their career more effectively. The objective of NCP & IR is also the professional development of the students by training them towards employability skills such as resume building, group discussions and interview skills which in turn help the students to move into desired occupation. The Infosys Campus Connect status enables NCERC to organize several high quality training programmes for the faculties and students given by experts from Infosys on Technical and soft skills. This frequent industry- Academic interaction makes our students industry ready and no wonder, 82 of our students got placed in Infosys at the Campus Selection held in NCERC. The current year has seen tangible progress in the Infosys Campus Connect activities and the Infosys rightly retained our campus at Advance Level Status. In recognition of various Infosys campus connect activities NCP & IR got Infosys award for remarkable performance in the academic year 2015-16. The recognition as an active Campus Connect College has enabled NCERC to host 5 days workshop for faculties and students during March 14 to 18, 2016. Hope that these ventures will motivate the students to accomplish their endeavours. Further NCP & IR has been able to place students in KPMG, Speridian, M Phasis, Tech Mahindra, Alembic Pharma, Wipro, SLK Software, TATA ALG, UST Global, ZOHO, TVS Cochin & TCS. Many more Campus placement drives are in the pipeline. Thus, NCP &IR is looking forward to a challenging and rewarding year of optimally tapped potential and opportunities. R. Madhava Menon inaugurated the Nehru Academy of Law at an impressive function attended by Hon’ble Additional District Judge Suresh Kumar Paul and many of the dignitaries. The Academy now runs the BBA, LLB (Honours) as well as the three year LLB course. NCP & IR BRINGS A BRIGHT PLACEMENT SEASON HIGH RANKING FOR NCERC In a survey conducted by the well-known National weekly, The Week, NCERC was ranked the 3 rd best private engineering college in Kerala. NCERC also secured the 50th place among private colleges in South India. STALWARTS OF NGI Nehru College of Architecture was established in July 2015 with the principle aim of creating the next generation of architects with the knowledge and skill set to conceptualize the future of the built environment. The Design Studios are the life of NCA, with multiple threads of History, Visual Arts, Humanities, Sociology, Economics, Structural design, Climate and the Environment contributing to the creative process. Architectural model-making, terracotta, and carpentry workshops conducted by eminent professionals, participation in design competitions, and an architectural study tour of Kerala, have enriched the vibrant studio environment.

engineers’ day Celebrated at Nehru College.Engineers’ Day, organized by the Electronics and Communication Department, Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pampady, was inaugurated by Dr. J. Davis, Principal Government Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram. The programme was conducted in commemoration of the 155th birth day of Vishveshwarya, a committed and dedicated Engineer. Paper presentations and various competitions were organized.

JBS 2015 outgoing student Ms. Nisha Mohan got second prize in the Student Project competition held by Palakkad Management Association in connection with National Management Day.

Umesh K.H and Team of JCET ,EEE won the first prize for the project Telsa Coil in project competition held at Govt. Engineering College, Sreekrishnapuram.

KSEB Engineer’s Association seminar competition “Power Augmentation in Kerala- Issues, Challenges and Solutions” was conducted at JCET, EEE association. More than 200 persons including KSEB Engineers,students, participants from 13 various Engineering colleges, invited guests, faculties and staff attended the programme. Mr. Umesh of JCET secured 2nd prize in seminar competition.

National level Technical Paper contest and Best Innovative Idea among various engineering colleges was conducted by JCET, EEE department. Smrithi V of NCERC secured 2nd prize in this contest.

Jawaharlal Business School conducted National management meet AGON-2015, which had a record participation of above 500 students from various colleges in India. The presence of Dr.Benny Joseph, C.e.o, Jubilee mission medical College, V.m.Xaviour, the Secretary, Thrissur management made the event a remarkable one. every year JBS conducts its branded event AGoN- a platform for the budding managers in the Country to compete with the future talents of other institutions. The fest includes major corporate functional area viz Finance, marketing, HR, Treasre hunt, Business quiz, photography competition and Best manager Competition. The event opens doors for mBA aspirants well exposed and gain experience through various competitions.

AGON 2015 offered Rs. 1 lakh prize money for the winners.The Team Championship was won by Christ university, Bangalore. Various competitions ended with the award ceremony. Cash prizes and certificates were given to the winners.

Nehru School of Management kicked off its National Management Meet with the curtain raiser of KARMA XI 2015. The theme of the event was ‘THINK BEYOND LIMITS.’ The function was inaugurated by Sri. V. P. NandaKumar, the Chairman and Managing director of Manappuram group. Various management events were organized during the two days programme. Students of various streams took part in the events like Business Quiz, Best Management team, Finance Game, Best Manager and HR Game for PG students and

general quiz, treasure hunt, video game, theme dance and spot photography for UG students. Almost 500 students from 45 colleges witnessed the programme. A cultural gala ‘Rangaprayoga’ was graced by the special guests, Sri. Sadhanam Harikumar and Cine Artist Rohith Menon. A blissful cultural programme by the students of NSM enthralled the audience. The presence of more than 25 distinguished alumni, working in various key positions in many reputed organization in India and abroad made the event a memorable one.

The MCA association hosted a South Zone intercollegiate technological meet at NCERC campus. It was inaugurated by Adv .Dr.P Krishnadas, Managing Trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions. Students from 40 colleges participated. Along with several competitions Quiz, treasure hunt, photography

were also held. The massive participation and intense competition brought forth many talents to the lime light. On this occasion a departmental magazine was released. A debate of human resource expert Sri. Ashok. P. Das, Alumni meet, and cultural eve were also organized.

PreSeNtING Powerful PAPerSMs. Sreelakshmi of MTech Energy Systems got her paper “Design of Cost Effective and Environment Friendly Compact Fluorescent Lamp Disposal System using Titanium Dioxide Photocatalyst” accepted for IEEE, WIECON-ECE 2015 in Bangladesh on “Women in Engineering and Technology”.

Mr.Shameeh Rahman, Mr.Rahul S, Mr.Vivek CR and Mr.Sujay of S6 Mechanical Engineering-II batch became the 3rd Runner Up in the Concept Car Competition held at JCET by M/S Ammana Toyota in February 2016.

NCERC Automobile department students participated in Technical Fest organized by Malabar Polytechnic College, Palakkad and exhibited Mini Back Hoe, Automobile Pulse Braking System, Multi Purpose Agro Machine, All Wheel Steer, Hands Free Automobile for Physically Challenged and Intelligent Reverse Breaking System.

Athira of S3 ECE won Second Prize in District Level Essay Competition conducted by Sathya Sai Trust, Thrissur.

Divya Panicker of S3 ECE won First Prize in Poster Making Competition conducted by Excise Department, Kerala and Second Prize in Face Painting Competition in association with FANTABULOUS conducted by NIT, Coimbatore.

Mr. Ashmil & Ms. Neema won the 2nd prize in “Brainwave Scenario” at OCULUS 16 conducted by Excel College of Architecture and Planning, Namakkal on March 3, 4 and 5, 2016.

Mr. Mohd. Yasin won the 1st prize in the photography competition at AGON conducted by JBS.

“Sasneham” Scheme for the Needy by PKD-IMSP. K. Das Institute of Medical Sciences (PKDIMS), the largest hospital of Palakkad District has initiated the “Sasneham” scheme with a view to provide the best medical services to the public at the lowest possible rates. The scheme includes free treatment, visits by eminent doctors specialized in different areas of medicine, heavy discounts on surgery, consultation, medicine etc. to the In-patients.

Both State and Central government are taking adequate measures to ensure that tribal population living at Attapady could lead a normal life with all basic amenities and hospital facilities. Certain hamlets such as Vechapathy, Velliangiri and Moolagangal were selected to study the extent of amenities utilized by tribals. Well constructed house with toilet, water supply, electricity, drainage, availability of gas as fuel, transport facility were observed and reported to Sub Collector Office, Ottapalam. People who were not issued medical insurance card were also noted and informed to Sub Collector Office, Ottapalam. Two days camp was conducted by Dept of Pharmacy Practice, Nehru college of Pharmacy, Pampady.

The month of February witnessed the cultural talents of all students of NGI-Kerala, at NCERC campus in Pampadi. Passion for music, dance and other non stage items churned out their best talents. BLOOM

is a spectacular get together of the various colleges of Nehru Group of Institutions, Kerala. The two days long celebration in the campus was made memorable as the power packed performance on the stage flabbergasted the entire audience making them awestruck. This year more than 5000 students worked together to make Bloom V.13.0 a grand success.

This year`s Bloom culminated by the presence of Cine Artists, Mr. Neeraj Madhav and Sunny Wayne.

The purpose of BLOOM is to showcase the immense talents of students, encourage healthy competition, promote team spirit and provide the students a refreshing relief from the rigors of their academic preoccupations. All students of NGI (K) are divided into 4 teams: Avalanche, Thunder, Tornado and Volcano. The off-stage items included competitions that tested the verbal skills like versification, debate, extempore speech etc, musical talent like ganamela, instrumental solo, band etc. and creativity like clay modeling, tattoo T-shirt and mehendi designing, pencil drawing, cartoon making, rangoli making, etc, of the students. The On-stage items are held for 2 full days in a state-of-the-art stage that would out shine starry evenings. The lights and sound make BLOOM worth watching. The On-stage events this year included various dance items such as Solo dance, Nostalgia, Adam vs. Madam, Group dance, On-the spot chemistry, Duet dance, Break-a-Natyam, Street hop, ABCD or Anybody Can Dance. A Theme-based Fashion Show and the prestigious Talent Hunt were also held. The points scored by the participants make the team Champions of the Bloom. The girl and the boy with the highest scores are declared the stars of the concerned version of Bloom.The musical nights enticed these days one more memorable BLOOM in the history of NGI.

The Nehru Science and Innovation Technical Expo 2K16, which showcased the latest

technical advancements and innovative ideas came to a spectacular finish by introducing them to the general public in most creative ways. The valedictory and award presentation ceremony of this technical extravaganza, which was jointly conducted by the Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre Pambady and the Jawaharlal College of Engineering Lakkidi in association with ISTE, was inaugurated by the Sub Collector of Ottapalam, Mr. P B Nooh, IAS. The General Manager of Raidco Kerala Ltd, Mr. N. Kuttikrishnan was also a guest of prominence. The main attractions of this expo were ideas which had application in day-to-day life. The expo had participants from three states including Kerala. Over 450 school projects and 150 engineering projects were exhibited and the fest had over 10,000 spectators. Cash awards, certificates and mementos worth over Rs. 5 lakhs were presented in the award ceremony. Twenty five students from the fifteen

best performing schools were given a full fee waiver for their engineering education under the Nehru Vignyan Scholarship, which had a net worth of Rs 1 crore. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Ottapalam was selected as the best performing school. In the higher secondary category, the first place for Science Working Model went to Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode for the project Smart Energy Meter. For the sub-category Science Still Model, the winners are GVHSS Valappad for Integrated Power Generation. The 1st prize for the Science Research category was bagged by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kanjikode for Seasonal Winds and its Effects on Health of People in a Particular Area. GVHSS, Valappad, bagged the first prizes for both Maths Still and Working Models for the projects Suspension Bridge and Parametric Equation Verifier respectively. In the High School category, the first prize for Science Working Model went to CMHSS, Trissur for Electrical Management System. First place for Science Research category went to GHSS, Manathala for The Impact of Climate

Changes on Sea Fishes. For the Maths Still Model, the Sabari Central School, Cherpulassery won first prize for Mathematical City. First place for Maths Working Model went to BSS Gurukulam HSS, Alathur for Magic Circles. For engineering projects, in the sub-category consisting of Automobile, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Aeronautical departments, the first place was won by Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre for the project Reverse Osmosis. In the category consisting of computer science, IT and MCA departments, the first place was won by Prime College of Engineering for Blue Eyes Technology. For the Electronics and Communication category, the first place was won by PIST Ernakulam for the topic Electronic ELCV. In the Electrical and Electronics category the project DVR for the Voltage Compensation in Transmission Lines by students of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre won the first prize. Government Engineering College, Trissur bagged the award for best project in Civil Department.

The NSS unit 209 of NCERC is undoubtedly one of the Best NSS units in Kerala having displayed exemplary performances over the years since its inception in 2009. The unit is the recipients of the prestigious awards which include the BEST UNIT, BEST VOLUNTEER and the BEST PROGRAMME OFFICER AWARD.E - Governance Mission This project is a part of larger task of NSS-Tech cell to turn Kerala into the first E-literate and digitalised state of India. The unit has been spreading awareness about the various

government facilities available online in different schools, colleges in the districts of Thrissur and Palakad as well as in the wards of Thiruvillawamalapanchayath. Also the unit has taken up the herculean task of making the Kondazhy Gramapanchayth into one of the first fully digitalised panchayath of Kerala. The unit also hosted the state level camp N-ACE (NSS ACADEMIC CONSULTANT FOR ENGINEERING), in the college campus for training program officers to act as consultants for students of engineering discipline.

The JEEVADHAYINI blood donation forum of NSS has so far collected the highest number of blood donation forms in the district of Thrissur.The DARE (DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION) is one of the most innovative projects of the unit,in which workshops are taken for students in classes 1-7 to spread awareness about the growing harmful effects of drugs and to reduce the cases of drug abuse in the society. Skill development programs like LED Lamps from used CFL bulbs, Toilet cleaner, Soaps, Detergents, Phenoil Making,

Handicrafts, Art From Waste Etc, to unemployed youth and Kudumbasree units for enhancing entrepreneurial skills. The unit has also been published two handwritten manuscripts namely “GULMOHAR and SPANDANAM” to bring out the talents of the students and to highlight the relevant problem in society both magazines were highly praised and SPANDANAM was awarded the 3rd prize in GENESIS state level camp in 2016 conducted at Trivandrum.

The various institutions of NGI(K) including their NSS and CDC Units were in the forefront to collect medicines, food, clothes, water etc. which were distributed to the helpless victims of the recent Chennai floods.

MBA Students go to Villages: Under the “Sarvake Nivaste” scheme, the students of NSM visited the neighbouring villages to study the possibility of development there. The students collected financial and social data in order to identify the most relevant factor or area for the development of each village.

Dhwani, a registered Charitable Society founded by MCA Alumni team, initiates a Cash award and Memento to the Best Outgoing MCA student, every year. The Society, closely associating with our Department, also conducts some Charitable activities for the empowerment of some back trodden sectors of people.

Staff welfare associations for Jawaharlal Colleges and Nehru Colleges were formulated, so as to provide a common recreational platform for all faculties in campuses and to foster a healthy, meaningful and constructive relation amongst them.For Nila Garden Campuses the Association is named SWAN, comprising of Members from NCERC, NSM & NCP. The association stays active in various welfare activities for its members, and recently honored the senior-most member Prof. K. P. T. Nair, on his retirement.

At Jawahar Gardens the Staff Association created a pleasant get together in connection with X-Mas celebrations. Staff members along with their family made the day enjoyable. The members from JCET, NAL, NSA& JBS initiated and implemented some social and charitable activities as forecasted in the Association bylaw.

The NGI management extended whole-hearted support for all Staff Association activities and wished that this would create a platform for enhancement of professional, artistic, social and literary potentials of NGI employees.

“Thirike 2015”, NCERC witnessed a luminous Alumni meet of all passed out batches at the College campus for the recollection of memories. Our former Director Dr. K. Raghavan Nambiar lit the lamp of togetherness on

this gala event. The occasion was blessed with the honouring of esteemed personalities of NCERC Dr. K. Raghavan Nambiar, Prof. Ravi Varma Raja, Prof. K. P. T. Nair, Prof. Suresh Babu C. Bahuleyan and Sri. K. Unnikrishnan.

The association ‘NEST’ (Nehru ex- students) launched a job portal www.alumnincerc.com which allows alumni to post job requirements. This portal extends present students to search jobs and apply to the available jobs

based on their field of interest. The website also includes an alumni directory comprising of about 5000 alumnus with automated and advanced searching. A discussion board is also included in the website. The programme ended

with a Musical Night, followed by sumptuous dinner.

Campus day of 2015-2016, a combined cultural event of Nehru college of Engineering and Research center & Nehru college of Pharmacy was held at NCERC. Chief Guest of this day was Honorable MLA, Sri.M.Hamza inaugurated the function. The cine artist Kalabhavan Shaju, the special guest mesmerizes the audience by his mimicry performance. The entertainment programs of students were excellent enough to awe the audience who were aghast to witness the scintillating performances.
