Gowrisankar [email protected]DST — INSPIRE SCIENCE CAMP for School Children 15 - 19, December 2014 About NIT PATNA National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18 th Na- tional Institute of Technology created by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India after rechristening the erst- while Bihar College of Engineering Patna on 28. 01 . 2004. NIT Patna is situated on the South bank of the River Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, one of the most im- portant and sacred places of Patna. The Institute campus is about 8 km from the Patna Junction railway station and 15 km from the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. The entrance to the Institute is from Ashok Rajpath and it is about 3 km from the famous Gandhi Maidan. The Institute is partly residential in na- ture and it provides residential facilities to its students as well as teachers as per availability. About DST The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is a department within the Ministry of Science and Tech- nology in India. It was established in May 1971, with the objective of promoting new areas of Science and Technology and to play the role of a nodal department for organizing, coordinating and promoting Scientific and Technological activities in the country. It gives funds to various approved scientific projects in India. It also supports various researchers in India to attend conferences abroad and to go for experimental works. About INSPIRE "Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)" is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for attraction of talent to Science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract tal- ent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthen- ing and expanding the Science & Technology system and R&D base. About Programme National Institute of Technology Patna has been entrust- ed with the responsibility of conduction INSPIRE SCI- ENCE CAMP from 15th-19th December, 2014, by De- partment of Science & Technology, Govt of India. The Science Camp is held to motivate and inspire talented students to take up Science and Research as a career.
