From my practice photos I found that the best way to take these images is to try to place as many points of interest in the photo at the same time whilst maintaining the even flow of things. For example when I took one of my practice photos I captured a family fishing together on the sea front and a couple going for a run on the beach; I also tried to include natural features like lens flares from the sun and the cliff faces. My inspiration came from landscape photographer Charlie Waite, his abstract perspectives and colourless masterpieces grabbed my attention on popular image sharing site Flickr. My Evaluation

I decided to create my exhibition based on landscape after realising that it was the most efficient way to capture the beauty of the landscapes around me.

In my photos I used a combination on equipment including a Canon 1100D, Canon 600D, Velbon tripod, SanDisk class 10 8GB SD card, Tamron 70 – 300, 18 – 55 Canon kit lens, 50 Canon 1.8 and a Canon RS-60E3 remote.

I tried to capture the beach views from various perspectives and even tried to replicate a ‘dog’s eye view’ from the bottom of the stairs. My research fundamentally helped me in the capturing of my images as the combination of taking of different styles and internet research helped me decide what genre of photos I would be taking. Initially I found it hard trying to get the camera to see what I was seeing however with the extended practice in class it helped me to understand how I needed to operate the camera in order to achieve the results I was looking for.

If I were to re-take all of my photos I would the amount of time I have into consideration a little more; I found myself at the last minute running around trying to get shots that I didn’t have and this was especially hard because of the weather conditions at the beach.

After reviewing all of my photos I had decided that I didn’t need to do very much in post-production if I wanted to achieve the natural look I was going for as I heavily rely on my

skills in Photoshop to make up for what I can’t do with the camera and I think that is was good to develop my ability to be able to get stunning images directly from the camera.

I have decided to include photos of other genres in my gallery because when I laid out all my landscape photos they seemed to clash and didn’t display well.

In this transformation I cropped to the main subjects in the photo which were the family, the beach huts and the sea. I decided not to keep the houses in the background and the sky as they weren’t of any interest.

If I could change this photo I probably wouldn’t have bothered to put it into black and white because it was quite washed out to begin with and I liked that effect.

In this photo I tried to imitate the lens flare seen in the popular Grand Theft Auto 5 video game; below is the flare I was trying to copy.

Overall my Photography unit went very well and I wouldn’t change a lot other than my timescale of when I took all my photos. I wish that I had allowed myself a little more time to experiment with the camera at home and unless I took the photos out of school I didn’t have a wide variety of locations to take all of my shots.
