! e concept for this " agship store was one of Chi-cago’s bike paths that appeared to be continuous and linear. I incorporated that into the ‘snake’ structure that began on one side of the retail space as a purse display/ storage and continued more to the center of

the space as the cash wrap and # nally to the other side of the store where it became an overhead panel that led to the bar area. I also used di$ erent types of materials to indicate a di$ erent purpose and area of the structure.

Referring to the projects concept of the spiderweb, materials used in the space were strong, thin and linear. ! ose char-acteristics were represented by the evidence in wood veneer, glass and metal in the break room/ kitchen (above).

! e west branch consisted of the three manager o" ces, their assistant, conference room A, co# ee/ break room and $ nally the consultants and their assistant. ! ere was a second means of egress which was located just by the consultants space that created

a private entry for them not needing to travel through the main entry. ! is second entry was also used by delivery/ mail purposes with the space for drop o# s. ! e west branch itself started at 8 feet width and spread up to 14 feet by its end.

! e green wall (below) was designrd to improve the air quality by providing oxygen and humidity. ! e large steel table held wood trays that contained a rotating collection of fabrics. Unlike conventional display racks, here the user was encouraged to interact with the product samples

and her assistant. It also accommodated display space just like the west branch did. It began at 8 feet width and widened to 16 feet at its end.
