Social Group

• I consider myself African, American, although I am mixed with many ethnicities. I was born in Mobile, AL.

• My mother is a British/African American, who is biracial (half-white/half white)

• My father is a Louisiana Creole.

Language

• Like most Americans, I speak English.

• However, my British heritage leads me to say words like mum instead of mom.

• With my father having such strong ties to Louisiana, “bebe” may come out every so often.

Religion

• I am a baptized Missionary Baptist, which makes me a Christian.

• In our faith, we believe that we must go out and tell others about the goodness of our God. Once a person has professed their belief in God and the faith they are baptized in a pool at our church.

• My home church is Cedar Park Missionary Baptist

Daily Life

• My days are pretty routine, I teach for seven hours a day!

• I like to workout in the afternoons.• My friends and I like to go out and eat at various

restaurants and try new foods.• I miss my family in Mobile.

History

• Recently, tracing my family history, I learned my great grandmother, Lula Dukes, was the first woman in her family to receive an education, although it was ended at sixth grade, due to the treatment of blacks in Mississippi in the early 1900’s

• My English family has lived in the same town, Ipswich, which is two hours north of London, for 50years.

Arts

• My family and I have a strong appreciation for music. Most of us sing and play instruments.

Government

• Recently,I learned I was more a Republican than a Democrat. While I support President Obama, I want the best person in office who will do the best job, regardless of race, political party or other beliefs.

The Economy

• Making money is VERY IMPORTANT to me!• I recently completed a masters’ degree because I

know in this world, the more education you have, the more opportunity I can seek.

Being a teacher was something that was always appealing to me. You have to have a college education and possess a high level of knowledge in your field to be successful!

• I live by one motto “If you like it, I love it”

• I believe that we should learn to accept all people for their differences and be tolerant of those differences. We don’t have to LIKE anything, but at least appreciate and respect all people.
