In 1831, he was working at St. Catherine Docks, London. In 1845, we were married at Christ Church St. Laurence . We resided at Petersleigh which stood opposite St. Peters Church.

At St Peters Church there is a memorial window for our daughter, Ethel Mary.

I arrived in Sydney on the “Tellicherry” in 1806 with my mother, Mary Cooper. I married my wife Mary Galloway in 1831. Unfortunately, she died in 1834 while giving birth to our daughter, Hannah.

I married again in 1836 to a girl called Mary Cullen. In1838, I purchased 8 acres of land in Marrickville, which I called Frankfort Park.

Mary and I had 6 children called Thomas, Robert, Emma, Albert, Victoria and John. Mary died in 1848 leaving me a widower once again.

I married one last time to a girl called Mary Ann Curtin in 1849 and had 3 children with her called Joseph, Mary and Frances. I am a successful businessman with concerns in Newtown. Mary Ann died in 1880.

I was born in 1792 and died in 1856. I am the son of a watch maker and goldsmith. I left Scotland in 1811 to take up a job in London. I migrated to New South Wales in 1823.

I owned a couple of houses in Sydney including a grand mansion at Potts Point. I built Tempe House on the banks of Cooks River and lived there. I was a wealthy merchant.

Unfortunately, I was bankrupt by the depression of the 1840s. I died on the 21st of October 1856. Sadly, no notices of my death appeared in any Sydney newspapers.

I am buried at St. Peters Church graveyard but there is no record of the location of my gravestone.
