Hundred years old castlesi walls of Horne Považie regrien certainly retain a great deal of history. Howewer they have not been built at the same time, all the same they used to funcion mostly as fortilifications. The Strečno castle is the best known one in Horne Pvažie region.it rises above meander of the váh river below the Mala Fatra mountain needles....

Still living are legends of the Slovak folk hero Juraj Janošík .Story of Janošík, a hero who used to rob rich people and donate poor people, started in Terchova village. But his steps were directed to several other places of our region,back up of its borders as well-from the Kysuce region to Jablunkov, from Bytča to Trenčin as far as Malohron region, where he was captured in 1713. Though his young life was ended on a gibbet in Liptovsky Mikulaš, a legend was born.
