If everyone were to have a laptop or some other piece of technology of their own in the classroom this would make the need for school computers obsolete.
Allowing students to use technology to do most of their work would mean writing assignment would be easier for the teacher to read and with spell check and other tools on the device, there would most likely be less mistakes. Having access to the internet would mean that students could research the projects and assignments they need to do more thoroughly and in the end produce better work to hand in.
Teachers could assign more different projects for students to do, as they would all have some technology that would allow for more to be done. Teachers could post all assignments on the internet or in a sharing folder so that students could have access to the information about projects whenever they need it.
The Dark Side
Problem #1:Students may become more distracted, having access to the internet and other games/music etc. all the time.Solution:Put a rule into effect that prohibits certain devices non the laptop to be used and enforce consequences that will teach those who break the rule to reconsider breaking it again. Problem #2:
Some laptops may have different devices on them, such as different versions of Microsoft Office, which will have different tools on it.Solution:Schools can issue out programs for students to download onto their device.
Problem #3:Some students are not good at working with technology and if most projects/assignments must be done on a laptop they will have a hard time handing in good-quality assignments on-time.Solution:Offer extra classes or help on working with technology to those that need it.
