    2012-2013 Annual Report

Celebrating 23 years of saving babies, one woman at a time!

    Defend ~ Restore ~ Shelter

  • 8/14/2019 MWC 2013 Annual Report.pdf

    2/14

Defend~Restore~Shelter Three words whichrequire many hands, willing hearts, fervent prayer, tears, joy, and hard work to accomplish.

Defending lifeinvolves interacting with individualsat the point of their crisis. It requires asking them toconsider the other person involved in their situation

their unborn child. This year we had the oppor tu-nity to defend the lives of 15 babies who were at riskof abortion; however, we know of many others whoselives were lost. This is where the tears come in.

Restoring heartsdepends rst on God. However, italso requires us to step out of our comfort zones andput ourselves in front of people who need the Lord.By Gods grace, seven women put their trust in Jesusand sixty-three Bibles were distributed. This is where

    joy happens.

Sheltering pregnant women occurred at theAmazing Grace Home (AGH) this year where volun-teers and staff rose to the challenge of encouraging, praying for, and loving our six residents. Overall,MWC staff and volunteers provided 1,500 hours oflife-afrming aid for our clients; these hours representthe hard work part of this venture.

This year you will see new faces at the Center. After10 years of service Tupee Garsinii retired this fall;we will miss her greatly. At just the right time, Godbrought Andrea Cross to serve as our new assistant. In the coming months, we will be hiring a CaseManager/Biblical Counselor to serve at AGH.

As you page through this annual report, our prayeris that you will be encouraged and inspired by theimpact your gifts have had on defending life, restor-ing hearts, and sheltering women and their familiesfor the glory of God.

Pure religion and undeledbefore God and the Father is

this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their afiction,

and to keep himself unspotted from the world.James 1:27

Amazing Grace Home A Place of Love and GraceThe Amazing Grace Home (AGH) completed its rst year of operation in2013. Six women, ranging in age from 18 to 24 and representing AfricanAmerican, Asian, and Caucasian ethnicities and diverse family and economicbackgrounds, resided in the home this year. House parents, Keith andMeredith Henderson, and respite house parents, Brandon and Andrea Cross, faithfully cared for the women throughout the year. Volunteers providedTuesday Night Suppers for the residents and were able to encourage themby sharing personal testimonies and fellowship.

While at AGH, each residents basic needs for food and shelter were provided.Medical care was covered by state or private insurance. Residents had

opportunities for spiritual growth by attending local churches, learning toresolve conicts Biblically, and working on restoring family relationships.

Learning life skills, nding employment, and pursuing individual educationalgoals kept the women busy. Megan Wright, summer intern, worked throughPaul Tripps Shepherding a Childs Heartparenting book with some of thewomen. Each woman participated in decision-making regarding parenting orcreating an adoption plan for her child. Four women chose parenting for theirchildren, and two women made adoption plans.

The women were encouraged to examine past relationships with men, andthree of them made commitments to future sexual purity. Staff and volunteersthen hosted a Purity Ceremony where each woman received a silver purity

ring donated by one of our volunteer families.

During this rst year of operation, we learned a lot,

changed a lot, and prayed a lot! The AGH familymotto has become Blessed are the exible, for theyshall not be bent out of shape. We look forward tothe next residents who will come under the shelterof the Amazing Grace Home, and to the additionof a Biblical Counselor/Case Manager to our staff.Thank you for praying for the Amazing GraceHome, staff, and residents.

My advisor was open , patient, and very honest with me.

The free test, walk-in service, and orderly ofce were nice.

We liked that the people were very professional and they prayed with me.

I liked t he personal attent ion and care I was given when I needed it the most.

Everyone was so car ing and l istened without being judgmental about my situat ion.

I am glad to know how to obey God now.

I liked i t when we went over the pamphlet about Jesus .

I liked everything about it and would recommend this to anyone.

My advisor knows her st uff and gave me lots of information while ke eping it interest ing.

The calming disposition of my advisor made it easy for me to open up.

I came in la te and th e staff t ook care of me anyway.

The fr iendly vibe from the staff let me know they cared about my life.

They were sensitive and listened to my needs.

They called attention to all the choices you have; they are very calming.

The staff seemed not to judge the situation and had great options to support me.
