May is the month our country celebrates America’s favorite food -

which as we all know tastes best grilled. And with Memorial Day the official start to both summer and the grilling season, Marianas Variety-Guam proudly presents the Second annual Burgerfest Guam. A day of fun, food and music for the whole family.

ABOUT BURGERFEST

MV GUAM presents an all-day festival event at Skinner Plaza

in Hagatna on Sunday, May 29, 2011. This Memorial Day

weekend promotional activity will feature live music & entertain-

ment, lots of great food, and fun for the kids.

Highlights of the day include the search for Guam’s ultimate

burger as professionals, amateur grill masters and students com-

pete for bragging rights to Guam’s best burger, all while raising

funds for local charities and community service groups.

Burger Bout. Competitors will have to please not only a

panel of judges local celebrities and community leaders with

demonstrated good taste but also vie for the people‘s Burger

Champion cup as festival goers eat and vote their way

through the day.

A burger-eating contest is also planned with a very special twist.

Burger Eating Contest is a challenge to see who can eat

the most burgers in 10 minutes. Men, women and young adults

will compete for cash and prizes.

BK Kids’ Zone is an area just for the kids and will include

bouncers, Kid friendly activities, snow cones and cotton candy.

MV Guam has partnered with Burgerking which will offer

games & activities.

This planned annual event is open to the public free of charge.

Cost for food and drinks will be reasonably priced making this

an ideal activity the entire family can enjoy.

Mother’s Garden is an area near the BK Kid’s Zone. Parents

will be able to monitor thier children while they sit in a relaxing

atmosphere with furniture and blooming orchids.

PROMOTION

Marketing ChannelsThis event is more than a one day activity as integrated

promotional marketing plans include print, radio and televi-

sion ads. Facebook and video ads on mvguam.com will also

be used to create awareness and buzz ahead of the event

date, as well as to drive traffic to event sponsor businesses

during the month of May.

PrintOur integrated, multimedia promotional support for Burger-

fest will also include a 12-page (min) print supplement to the

Marianas Variety Guam. On Friday, May 27, 2011 MV

Guam will publish the Burgerfest Guam special section

featuring participating event sponsors, their ads with accom-

panying write-up about their restaurant’s burgers, promo-

tional offers, menu items and / or business profile.

Sponsor grilling teams will be profiled in a “sports-style” inter-

view, including their prognostications for the results of the

burger battles. Final selection of amateur competitors will

also appear with name and village.

This special section will also include grilling and food safety

tips, and a kid‘s coloring and activities section- ideally suited

for sponsors customized to include their logo and corporate

characters like Hamburglar, Wendy and the Burger King.

Teaser ads in the MV Guam will begin to appear during the

last week of April. Full-Color Burgerfest recruitment and

event ads will begin during the first week of May and run

with increasing frequency until the day of the event.

RadioMV Guam supports this event with : 30ss radio spots with promo-

tional partner Hit Radio [100.3] which celebrates 27 years of music,

information and community support on Guam this year. MegaMix

[101.9] will also be a part of our radio mix.

TelevisionBurgerfest Guam will be further supported with :15ss and :30ss

television spots.

OnlineAn online page at [www.mvguam.com/burgerfestguam] will be

added exclusively for the event. An event Facebook fan page will

be created and integrated into a comprehensive marketing strat-

egy. Visitors to this page will be able to share their favorite burger

recipes, post pictures of their favorite burger or burger joint on

Guam. And leave questions and comments. The page will also

include event information and updates. Registered visitors will also

be able to participate in contests as well on vote during the month

of May for the island’s best burgers in a range of categories.
