1st convention: In the red hot chili peppers song called cant stop, the visuals and the lyrics have a relationship as the main singer is actually singing the songs and you can see this. As far as the what the singer is actually saying and what is going on in the video, they dont have a relationship.2nd convention: There is a relationship between the music and what is being shown visually as the artists are playing the song with their instruments the song. Then the main singer does dance at certain points of the song to amplify the chorus for example.3rd convention: The genre of this band is alternative rock. The music video does conform to the conventions as there are a lot of different shot types and angle. Specially close ups of the artists. It also has long shots of the entire band.4th convention: This convention is one of the points made in the 3rd convention as this video uses multiple close ups of the main vocalist to promote star power.5th convention: This video does not use voyeurism to promote the video as there are no other people in the music video other than the band and there are no females in the band.6th convention: There are no intertextual references in this music video.

Nirvana

1st convention: In the nirvana song called in bloom, the visuals and the lyrics have a relationship as the main singer is actually singing the songs and you can see this. The band members then destroy the set of the music video stage that they are performing on which amplifies the genre of music for example.3rd convention: This bands music genre is alternative rock and grunge. The music video conforms to the conventions as the music video as there are close up and mid shots of the artist as well as longshots of the whole band on the stage playing. There are also jump cuts in this video which is a common editing technique used in music video to quickly change what is happening in the music video. In bloom does this when the members trash the stage.4th convention: The music video uses a variety of shots which include close ups of the vocalist to use star power as a promote there music video.5th convention: This music video doesnt use voyeurism to promote the video however there are screaming women in it.6th convention: This video is a parody of 1960s stage performances like the beetles.

Royal Blood

1st convention: In the Royal Bloods song figure it out, the visuals and the lyrics dont have a relationship directly. However the song title figure it out works with the video as your not sure what is happening and the audience are trying to figure it out. 2nd convention: The visuals and music have a relationship with each other as when the song changes pace and picks up, so does the visuals because the women is now being chased. It also has this effect when the song comes to its bridge and the song changes pace making it slow down. The visuals then slow down in pace before changing again after the bridge.3rd convention: Royal bloods music genre is hard rock and blues rock. The music video doesnt have any shots of the band members. The music video is like a short film which has a different entertainment effect to it than videos of the band playing. It'll engage the audience more. However the music video does have some iconography of a rock genre music video as it is quite a dark twists to it. This is also shown by the red tint that has been used in the editing stage of the video.Convention 4: This music video doesnt use star power however it does have a variety of shots of the main actress in it.Convention 5: The main actor in this video is a women however voyeurism hasnt been used as she is not flaunting her body. She is dressed normally and acting like someone who doesnt feel emotion. Convention 6: There are no intertextual references in this music video.

ConclusionIn conclusion the music videos all have a certain look about them that conforms to the genre that they are as well as putting their own spin on it. For example red hot chili peppers have a very fast paced song, so the music video represents this but with the same scenes being played against each other with different camera angles.For the alt j song called intro I am going to look at there other music videos and see what they all have in common. I am also going to watch interviews of the band members to learn more about the band to help me make a good music video.
