Take That – Said It All
The video for “Said It All” by Take That contains a performance by the band along with narrative on going throughout, with the circus theme continuing right through to the end. There are several close ups in the video to show the Audience the make up face paints. These are close ups of the
artist to create a central attraction for the audience, this represents their artistic portrayal of themselves.
The lyrics of the video are illustrative – “nothing to say at all” suggests they are finished taking and are now being quiet, this is portrayed by the faces of the band members as they look as though they have nothing left to say. This screen shot is an example of this, the video cleverly portrays the lyrics.
This screen shot of the video shows the colours used, the whole of the video is very dull and dark colours, indicating sadness. This goes against the idea of pop being happy and colourful and makes this video stand out. The whole video is concept based as the theme continues throughout as they prepare to go on stage dressed as clowns. The idea of clowns throughout and preparing to go on stage links in with the idea of a Circus, which is their album name, this is a direct link to their album.
Each of the band members are holding a prop, each a different one, all linked to the idea of a Circus, for example a Clown wig.
