ANALYSING CD COVER

The title n-dubz is bold and in style of graffiti creating this sense of youth rebellion and urban atmosphere connoting the listener should expect urban based music

The artists are right in the middle of the cd cover promoting their faces which help the listener to link the music and name to their faces.

Their clothing increases this youth and urban feel with the boys in hoodies, one with a bandana on their head and the other making a gang hand symbol with a slit eyebrow

Although faint the background is of an estate and metal gates keeping a sense of continuity to the youth symbolism n- dubz are trying to portray

When looking closer into the background I see the underground station sign ‘camden’ this could be the artists representing where they come from. Its almost as if the artists are showing a piece of what they represent which helps the listner to become a better fan as they are able to get close to them as the artists are opening up to them

Graffiti font continues, helping add to the urban youth feel

The music production company and other companies involved are very faint and in small text compared to the bold title and track list text. Its almost as if it would ruin the imagery/ branding n-dubz are trying to create

The sleeve note just increases their representation of themselves to their fans

Pictures help to show visual representations which words alone cannot do; this picture shows them in their environment, urban youth

Connection between visuals and lyrics; ‘thriller’ connotes a horror and the story line, setting mise-en scene all links to the a horror

Set is in abandon alley way, helps do add to this dungy scary feel of the music video

Low key lighting, adds to the horror as it creates shadows and it doesn’t enable the viewer to see everything clearly disabling them from seeing whats going to happen next or appear on the screen

Red connotes danger, its seen on the title which is bold making hard for the viewer not to miss it, also the fact that MJ’s costume is red increases this connotation of danger and adds to the horror feel of the music video

Face expressions are serious and often their eyes are wide open, staring right at the viewer to feel they are being stared straight into their soul

To add to the funky beat of the music and to make the song memorable thriller has one of the most iconic dance routines which has helped made it such a successful song

The artist has close ups of her singing the music with editing on the beat, this helps link her music to her face for fans to remember her

Editing on the beat is used to have the lyrics pop up when the words are played in the song, this gives a sense of karaoke making the viewer sing along, increasing the dance feel to the song

Extreme close-ups of a mouth is used throughout the video singing along to the music increasing the dance atmosphere of the song

Animation is used a lot it links to the 90s club scenes and goes well with dance music of its time

Speakers vibrating to the music creates an esscence that the music is loud for everyone to dance to, increasing the viewer to want to dance
