Ways My Media Product Uses, Develops Or Challenges Forms And Conventions Of Real Media Products
Masthead – My masthead is conventional as it is in the topleft hand corner of the page. It immediately lets peopleidentify the magazine style and genre. Also the font styleused reflects the genre of the magazine (indie).Left third – It is commonly used in a magazine so thatpeople can indentify the magazine when on shelves. Iachieved this by placing the masthead, freebies, cover lineand pull quote in this area.Article – I used a different text layout for my article, because I wanted to make my magazine different andindividual to the current magazines out there today.
How Does Your Media Product Represent Particular Social Groups
My magazine portrays my band as serious and fun in the
images used. And this makes them seem ‘normal’ and
relatable to young people, even though they are famous.
The article and the images makes them seem as people
that you like and as someone you can admire, because of
their fame. Also the language of the article reinforces the
representation of the fun and friendly band, because the
language is casual and relevant to the particular age group
the magazine is directed towards.
What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute My Media Product And Why
I would choose IPC Media to publish and distribute my
magazine, because IPC also publish NME, which is similar
to my magazine, as we are both advertise the same genre
of music. Also it is directed slightly more towards the male
audience. Whereas my magazine is directed more towards
the female audience, because there isn’t a mainstream
magazine directed mainly for a female audience.
The Type Of Audience For My Product
The type of audience for my product would be directed
towards young people, probably around 16 – 24 year olds.
Also my magazine is directed more towards the female
audience, with the female band and the colour scheme.
Although it is not specifically targeted towards the female
audience, overall I feel that it would appeal more to
females than males.
How I Attracted/Addressed The Audience
I used the colour scheme to attracted the audience. The
bright colours helped to represented the genre of my
magazine (indie). Also the images of the band helped to
attract the audience, because they would be the type of
band and genre of music that my target audience would
listen to and aspire to be like. And the headings of the other
articles included in the magazine would attract the
audience, because that would be the type of lifestyle my
audience would lead and be the type of subject that they
would be interested in.

What I Have Learnt About Technologies From The Process Of Constructing This Product
I have learnt how to use and how to upload my work onto
Blogger. Blogger is a good way to store work, because it is
easily accessible and simple to use. And I have learnt how
to use Photoshop and how to edit images. Also I used
Facebook to get answers for my questionnaire, although I
only received few responses for my questionnaire through
Facebook.
What I Have Learnt
I have improved my Photoshop skills since I designed my
college magazine. And I have learnt how to edit images
through Photoshop. Planning your work is important so that
you have an idea of what you want to do, but you also have
to experiment to see what works and what doesn’t.
