FRONT COVER ANALYSISMasthead in original red and black so it is recognisable and memorable to its regular customers, so people know that it is a good music magazine ro read if they see the same font and colour every week they recognize it and want to buy it. Pug in the top corner saying real rap and issue number showing that it has been going for a long time and it must be a good magazine . This will draw people into buying the magazine as it shows they are going to be professional and have good contents inside it. Plain background allowing the bright red and jet black writing stand out even more. The anchorage is good as it shows a picture writing link with Eminem being right in the middle of the page with all the writing down the side not touching him and if it does it is behind him showing that he is the main story. The fact that the title of the magazine is covered slightly shows that Vibe has a good reputation as the can hide the name and still be confident people will buy the magazine. The whole look of the front cover is to make Eminem look important but also make him look as though he is from a rough background. We can see this by the way he has a frown and blank expression on his face and his arms crossed. There is a link for the vibe website on the front cover so that if the customers want to see any other information they can go on the website .

IS THE BLUE COLOUR IN THE BACKGROUND AND THE IMAGE OF JAMES BOND .THE IMAGE IS A LONG SHOT AND THE MAN IS STANDING IN A SEROIUS POSITION. THE IMAGE IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR A MAGAZINE BECAUSE IF PEOPLE LIKE SOME ACTORS OR SINGER THEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED AND BUY THE MAGAZINE THINKING THEY WILL FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THAT CERTAIN ACTOR OR/SINGER. I THINK THIS COLOUR IT REALLY CATCHES YOUR EYES WHEN YOU SEE IT. THE BRIGHT COLOUR MAKE THE MODEL STAND OUT MORE. THE HEADING IS PARTLY COVERE BY THE MAIN IMAGE. EVEN SO PEOPLE WILL STILL RECOGNIZE THE NAME AS IT IS POPULAR. I LIKE THE TYPE OF CHARACTERS THEY USED FOR THE HEADING. THERE IS NOT MUCH TO READ AND THE WRITTING IT'S BIG SO YOU CAN EASILY READ IT. THE USE OF DIFFERENT DECORATION LIKE THE CIRCLE ON THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE MAKES THE MAGAZINE LOOK MORE PROFESSIONAL AND ATTRACTIVE. THE WRITING EMPIRE IS IN RED WHICH COMPLEMENTS THE BLUE BACKGROUND. I WOULD SAY THIS IS A MORE MASCULIN MAGAZINE BUT IF WOMEN LIKE THE MODEL ON THE MAGAZINE THEY MIGHT BUY IT TOO.

CONTENTS PAGE ANALYSISIncorporating the magazine logo into the background works in promoting the brand identity, helping to tie all the elements on the page together. It fills a large gap in the page, without being overwhelming. The model is pictured topless, showing his tattoos, he is wearing a variety of bling pieces of jewellery, and a basball cap spin around backwards. All this elements promote youth culture and wealth. The shrunken head around his neck suggests death, or freakish cult. The figure portrays anger, it is not designed to be an appealing image, rahter one of breaking social constraints, represented by the pulling of the jewellery. The image bleeds off the page. The unusual layout of the word CONTENTS suggests individuality from other magazines, and possibly cannoting the individuality of the genre of music that VIBE covvers. The column on the left side has a simple layout separeted into two categories for easy reading. The category heading are written in a font with formal serif. Overall the layout is fairly balanced, heavily oriented towards the main image with all other elements being placed in accordance to this picture, possibly cannoting the idea that the artists are the main focus of VIBE. The deep red/burgundy background colour could be cannoting deep passion, it also acts as a nice complimenting colour to the artist’s skin tone. The white font colour choice is a good contrast, and creates modern, contemporary feel.

NOT MUCH READING, A BIT FOR EACH SECTION. THE MONTH AND THE YEAR STANDS OUT AS IT IS LARGER. THERE ARE 3 IMAGES. THE LEFT ONE IS THE MAIN ONE BECAUSE IT'S BIGGER THAN THE OTHER TWO AND IT’S THE ONE THAT INCLUDES A MORE KNOWN PERSON. I LIKE HOW THE USED THE BLACK STRIPS TO NUMBER THE PAGES. THIS PAGE IS QUITE SIMPLE AND I LIKE THAT THE TEXT IS IN ORDER SO THAT THE READER CAN EASILY FIND WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR AND IT’S MORE LIKELY FOR THE AUDIENCE TO READ IT IF IT IS IN ORDER. YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE WHAT EACH SECTION IS ABOUT AND THE USE OF IMAGES MAKES THE AUDIENCE MORE WILLING AND INTERESTED TO READ WHAT’S INSIDE THE MAGAZINE. FROM THE USE OF COLOURES AND IMAGES USED IN THIS CONTENTS PAGE I WOULD SAY THIS IS A MAGAZINE THAT OLDER PEOPLE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN. THERE IS A BOXING IMAGE WHICH IS A MASCULIN SPORT AND WOMEN WOULDN’T BE INTERESTED IN THAT. THE MODEL ON THE MAIN IMAGE IS LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA AS IF HE IS INTERACTING WITH THE AUDIENCE.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSISThe largest text behind the model covers the two pages showing it is a key part of the article. The model is looking directly at the reader which invites the reader into the article. The way she is sitting flows well with the rest of the image but also suggests she is a dominant woman as she is sitting in a confident pose. The modle is wearing tight black clothing which suggests she is aiming for sexy look however the cannotation on the colour black is death and darkness which contradicts the models image. The red is the only bright coloure on thi s page which attracts the readers attention. The colour also links with the models hair which are the only bright colours on the page making the main focus on the image. The big bold font of the heading stands out and grabs the readers attention as the font used is different from the others on the article. The article uses a drop capital which follows the magazine conventions. It also lets the reader know where the start of the text is. The copy is in columns which follows the conventions of a double page spread. It also gives the article a feel that it is aimed at older people or teenagers as it is more formal

IN THIS CASE AS IN OTHERS IF THE READER KNOWS THE PERSON IN THE PICTURE THERE ARE MORE CHANCES THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO READ. THE IMAGE IS LINKED WITH THE TEXT THAT'S BEEN WRITTEN. THERE IS A LOT OF TEXT ON THIS PAGE BUT IT'S EASY TO READ EVEN IF THE TEXT IS SMALL. THE TITLE IS LARGE FROM THE REST OF THE TEXT. I LIKE HOW THE FLIPPED THE SECOND E IN THE NAME AND THEY CHANGED THE COLOURSE. IT MAKES IT LOOK MORE COOL. THE PICTURES IS A LONG SHOT AND THE MODEL IS SERIOUS WHICH GIVES THE PAGE A MORE HARD CORE LOOK. THE BLACK BACKGROUND MIGHT SIGNIFIE NEGATIV THINGS. I ALSO LIKE HOW THE FACT THAT THE PUT THE RAPPERS REAL NAME UNDER HIS STAGE NAME. THE STAGE NAME IS IN BIGGER CHARACTERS AS HE IS KNOW WITH THAT NAME.

As for the vibe magazine part of the title of the magazine is slightly covered as the magazine has a good reputation and even if the title is hide the magazine will still be sold. The heading has two different colours and it’s written in capitals, this is so it stands out on the plain background. The plain background allows the bright colours to stand even more. There is a banner at the top of the magazine releated to the magazine which promotes the popularity of the magazine. The whole look of the front cover is to make the model apear as a teenage. This by the expression on his face the way of dressing and the posture. The name raptop releates to rap music genre so this is a suitable name for the magazine. This is effectiv as it gives the reader an idea of what the magazine is about without reading it. The name of the rappers are in red and brown to inform the reader that there is an article surrounding the rap artists. The image is effective for it’s particular genre as it portrays the gangster image. You can see this from the posture and facial expresion. The main cover line is in red to make it stand out and also it releates to the cover image.

The model is pictured wearing fashionable clothes which promotes a youth culture and wealth. The unusual layout of the word contents sugests individuality from other magazines and possibly cannoting the individuallity of the genre that my magazine covers. Not only has this magazine thought of music but I also though about fashion. The artists in the main image is wearing something that is in fashion at the moment and this targets the audience. The only reason why i used a basic background is to make the artist stand out more as he will attract certain readers. The title of this paga immediatly captures the attention of the audience, the colorful writting stand out again in the grey backgorund makeing it instantly noticiable. The article is presented in an horizontal list format with page numbers next to them. On the paper texture background this emphasises the impression of a personal note or list, involving the reader. Areas of the magazine are seperated into three columns with different font for the subheadings makeing it easy to navigate and find the information the reader is looking for. The model is looking towords left almost with a serious look which gives the magazine a hard core look.

Simple text is used in blocks with no special colouring . The title of the magazine gives you a clue of what the story . is about. On the left page there is a quote of the artist all written in capitals . The white coloure of the quote makes the text stand out and it prepares the reader for what the artist will be talking about. The headline RT stands for RAPTOP which is the name of the magazine.
