GENRES OF MUSIC Music comes in many different types and styles ranging from traditional rock music to world pop, easy listening and bluegrass. Manygenres have a rich history or geographical significance, a cult following or music roots that go far beyond the 20th century.

Some common genres are:1. Rock2. Pop3. Metal4. Soft rock5. Grunge6. Classical7. Rap

UNDER GROUND BANDS IN PAKISTAN :

Pakistan is a country which is rich in culture and arts. People carry their ancestor’s traditional styles of singing. Shows like coke studio and nescafe basement take their singing to a next level.

While searching for English bands I came across a lot of pakistani singers who sing in English and have their bands. For example bands like Natasha khan- bat for lashes, co-VEN band, the limitless, 4pae etc. all of these produce English songs sung by Pakistani singers.

While doing my research on these bands and singers I came across a Pakistani English singer “jehangir aziz” who started his career in 2004 with the song “never change”. People loved his voice and composition of songs. I listened all of his songs and was impressed by him.

MY GENRE: The genre I selected for my music video is “alternative rock”. Alternative rock (also called alternativemusic, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a genre of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1980s and became widely popular by the 1990s.

 the word "alternative" refers to the genre's distinction from mainstream rock music, expressed primarily in a distorted guitar sound.

Bands like Junoon , strings, Fuzon, Jal etc are all alternative rock bands.

REVERBNATION ReverbNation, launched in 2006, is an online platform that provides tools and opportunities for musicians to manage their careers.

A lot of singers are a part of reverbnation. Among these is a Pakistani English singer jehangir aziz who’s main genre is alternative rock.

SINGER: JEHANGIR AZIZ Jehangir Aziz, is an award winning Pakistani singer, guitarist and composer. He released his début album Read Between the Lines in 2009 and is known for his track "Pretend to Be" which won three awards at the Indie Music Channel Awards 2012.

His genres: 1.Alternative Rock 2.Grunge 3.Heavy Metal 4.Industial Rock He won awards for the Best Male Alternative Artist, Best Alternative Recording and Best Alternative Video Under $5,000 at the Indie Music Channel Awards 2012.
