WALLINGFORD SWARTHMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT
33rd Annual
SUMMER BAND AND STRING SCHOOL
JUNE 23, 2014 – JULY 18, 2014
Once again, the Wallingford Swarthmore School District is offering a sum-
mer music program for students in grades 3 – 12. The program is for any student
interested in playing any of the band or string instruments. Instruction includes:
small group lessons, large ensemble rehearsals for band, orchestra, jazz band;
jazz improvisation seminars and clinics.
The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District Summer Music Program is a great opportunity to improve and continue to develop instrumental music skills as well as start a new instrument during the summer! The Summer Music Program is open to all district and non-district students that will be entering the 3rd grade – strings; 4th grade - band through high school and adult instrumentalists. We strongly encourage all interested instrumentalists to attend the Summer Music Program even if they will be away for a portion of the month-long program.
All students will receive each week: two to three small group lessons, full ensemble rehearsals, small ensemble activities, and participate in the concert at the end of the pro-gram. The program will take place in the Music Suite at Strath Haven High School. Students can be dropped off each day at the Providence Road entrance to Strath Haven High School. They will be directed to the Music Suite when they enter SHHS.
A fee of $200.00 per student will be charged for the program. For families with more than one child participating, a family rate of $200.00 will be charged for the 1st registration, and $165.00 for each additional registration. Students from outside the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District will be charged a fee of $225.00 per student. Fees include par-ticipation in all group lessons, band rehearsals, string rehearsals, jazz band, and small ensembles. There is no charge for students participating in the evening band rehearsals only.
As a culminating event, the WSSD Summer Music Program will present a concert on Thursday evening, July 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Strath Haven High School Auditorium. Please note: There will be no session on July 4, 2014.
