Information• The Resistance is the 5th album by Muse.

• On its release, it topped the album charts in 16 countries and reached number 3 on the American album chart. 148,000 copies sold in the first week.

  • The title of the album was revealed as The Resistance on the band's Twitter page on May 22,

while the first song was officially announced as "United States of Eurasia" on the official band website deciphered by fans from a picture of a piece of sheet music held by Bellamy in a photo uploaded on the Twitter page.

• On 16 June 2009 it was confirmed on the band's official website that the album would be released on 14 September 2009.

• On 3 July, the band began updating their Twitter profile with the track listing for The Resistance, which was completed by the end of the day.

• On August 17, 2009, iTunes gave 30-second previews for each of the songs on the album.

• On 7 September 2009, Zane Lowe hosted the "Muse Night" on BBC Radio 1 which was the recording of one of the gigs Muse performed at the band's hometown of Teignmouth in Devon.

• The Teignmouth gigs were on 4th and 5th September and 30,000 more people turned up than bought tickets.

Information•  On 2 June 2009, the band announced that they would begin a tour of Europe and the UK, beginning on

22 October and ending on 4 December, including two nights at London's O2 Arena. This tour had completely sold out their UK 95,000 allocated tickets within minutes from the general sale at 9am on 5 June.

• Muse have been nominated for two Q Awards. Uprising has been shortlisted in the "Best Track" category and the band is also up for the "Best Act in the World Today" award.

• Muse have also been nominated in the Best Alternative category at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.

• The Resistance was released in the U.K. on 14th September 2009, topping the album charts in 16 countries and reaching No.3 on the American album chart.

• On 14 July 2009, it was announced that the band will play their first televised United States performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on 13 September 2009, performing "Uprising“

• The band will play at the Stade de France, in Paris (the biggest French stadium) on 12 June 2010.

• On September 20th it was announced that ‘I Belong to You’ from The Resistance would be remixed and released as a track on the second Twlight movie. From 10 September, the album was free to listen to on the official website of The Guardian.

• On 9 September 2009, it was announced that The Resistance would be released on iTunes as one of the first iTunesLPs It will contain the album, and extras (animated artwork and behind the scenes videos).

Zane Lowe aired the first full play of ‘Uprising’ on Radio 1 on August 3rd

‘Uprising’ was confirmed as the first single from the album on July 14th via Twitter

The single was released to download from 4th August and was released on CD and Vinyl on 7th September.

The CD release

• The album was released in 5 different formats:• CD, Limited Edition CD+DVD, MP3 download, Limited edition box set and the Limited

edition deluxe box set.• The Limited edition DVD contains a making of documentary of the album. The CD

and CD+DVD version are packaged in a foldout softpak derived from sustainable forestry materials. The Limited Edition box included the CD, DVD, the album on double 12” vinyl and on a USB flash drive.

• The Exclusive Deluxe box set is only available from the official Muse website and is limited to 5000 copies world wide and additionally contains an audio DVD of the album. Both box sets include a 12” album art print

• The people who pre-ordered the album had

access to exclusive downloadable videos

of live Muse performances, made available

one per week until the release date.
