Congratulations once again! 2016 SRC Councillors: 2016 SRC Class Councillors: At this week’s assembly we will recognise our Bus Captains and Library Monitors. Again, we welcome everyone to join us in recognising their contribution to the leadership of our school. Sweetheart’s Day Wow! What a lot of “red” we had at our first SRC lead fundraiser this year. Students took full advantage of being able to wear red mufti clothes in order to raise funds for “Sweetheart’s Day.” Our school raised $360.50 for the Heart Foundation, an awesome effort. Thank you everyone who participated. Swimming Carnival It was fabulous to see all the students participating so well and showing great sportsmanship at our swimming carnival last Monday. A number of students then went on to back up their efforts again on Wednesday at the District Carnival. We have a huge number of students that have now qualified for the Far North Coast Carnival. Story Dogs
Our school was very fortunate in having Story
Dogs visit our school each week last year. Story
Dogs is a program that enables students to read
to a dog and their handler. It is a way of
encouraging students to read in a non-
threatening environment. The program has shown
to be effective in assisting students in improving
their reading levels.
Story Dogs will begin visiting our Support Unit
students this week. Story Dogs is currently in need
of further volunteers to support students in other
classes in 2016. If you think you may be able to
volunteer or you know someone who may be able
please pass on the information below.
We are looking for volunteers with suitable dogs,
who are willing and able to spend 2 hours per
week reading with children. We would love to
involve you and your dog in improving the literacy
abilities and reading enjoyment of some of our
students.
For further information. Please see the Story Dogs
