04. Evaluation

Energy evaluation

Energy evaluation demonstrated that the introduction of EVs improved the energy efficiency of the fleet by 77%. The same studies demonstrated that the well-to-whee CO2 emissions, were reduced by 52% after the introduction of EVs. Creation of a management model so that the charging of the vehicles occurs in periods that are environmentally and economically advantageous – SMART CHARGING.

05. Users opinion

Online survey for users The results of the Lisbon municipality pilot show that many of the issues identified as barriers do not occur in some of the situations in the case of Lisbon. •  The first survey was implemented for municipality employees that took place from May to June 2014. A total of 1160 answers were received, although from these only 175 could be considered, since they respect employees who have already driven an electric vehicle.

•  The second survey was implemented last March and a total of 790 answers were received.

Barriers and lessons learned

Drivers

Constraints

•  routes  are  more  raJonalized  (the  autonomy  of  the  vehicles  is  not  as  great  as  that  of  a  convenJonal  vehicle  so  users  avoid  its  use  for  tasks  other  than  those  strictly  professional)

•  less  aggressive  driving  behaviour  noJced,  when  compared  to  convenJonal  vehicles

•  the  charging  Jme  for  the  full  baTery  was  more  than  10  hours  for  the  Peugeot  (due  to  a  legislaJon  change  in  France  which  obliged  to  change  the  chargers  amperage)  which  was  not  well  accepted.

•  The  fleet  reducJons  require  intensive  use  of  vehicles,  what  with  EVs  in  pool  someJmes  is  difficult  to  manage  charging  about  8  hours.

06. Final remarks

The electric vehicles fleet have been in operation since 2013, with no major problems detected so far.

The optimization of the route by the users are also arguments to be used when convincing other companies about the positive results obtained with the adoption of these vehicles.

The strategy of the municipality continue in the future to buy more EV, including the integration of two buses of more than 30 seats.
