“This brochure is dedicated to my wife and family who have put up with my 60-70 hour working weeks for many years. I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally thank all employees past and present for their hard work and loyalty. More than half the workforce have been with Multiprint for between 15 and 30 years. My sincere thanks go to our customers both recent and long established for their continued support and good working relationship.

The business is now in the capable hands of Jay Todd, appointed Managing Director when the family partnership was made a Limited Company in 2009. Now acting as a consultant only, I am making up for lost time and enjoying outdoor pursuits and the company of my friends, family and four grandchildren.”

40 years on and still going strong In 2012 Multiprint will have been in business for 40 years. The business has never strayed from its ideals of giving value for money. The firm offers the consistency of service which comes only with long-standing experience of providing clients with a quality service.

Multiprint’s professional approach and continuous investment in new technology has brought recognition from a large selection of clients throughout Fife and Scotland. One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is the need to provide the three business basics; price, quality and service. We place great emphasis on the importance of competitiveness, but we are equally emphatic that we will not compromise on quality.

From small beginningsStarted by George Warner as a hobby working from home, Multiprint’s first premises was a shop in Cowdenbeath High Street. Within four years larger premises were required and the business moved to Mitchelston Industrial Estate, Kirkcaldy. In 1984 we had outgrown this building and moved to a custom built factory in Seafield Road where we are today. In 1992 an extension to the building was required to house additional machinery.

Many changes have taken place over the years from the first second-hand rebuilt single colour press bought for twenty pounds, to the latest Sakurai five colour computerised and automated press. We have stepped up to the mark in our commitment to invest in the very latest technology to maintain and increase our market share and build on a reputation of putting the customer first.

We have a very knowledgeable pre-press department who are extremely helpful and are available for advice on how to set-up artwork for printing. An information sheet on ‘supplying artwork’ is available on request.

Environmental PolicyOur in-house approach to environmental issues is one that aims to marry environmental considerations to effective, efficient management. By taking simple principles into account we aim to reduce our impact on the environment. A recent audit by an environmental consultant arranged through Envirowise, stated that in relative terms the work we have done so far, “Has been of considerable benefit to the environment”. These measures include:

PaperWhenever possible we buy bulk packed paper that is Elemental Chlorine Free and produced from sustainable forests. We also use a number of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited papers as ‘House’ stocks, some of which have ISO 14001 accreditation. We encourage the use of 100% recycled paper or paper containing an element of recycled fibre.

PrintingOur inks are vegetable oil based - specifically linseed oil - as opposed to mineral oil. This reduces our emissions of VOCs - Volatile Organic Compounds - into the atmosphere. These VOCs are a major source of ozone pollution and are a potential health hazard to our staff.

We encourage the use of batch printed products which reduces production waste whilst delivering cost savings.

Reduce and Recycle WasteWe have reduced our ‘unavoidable’ production waste paper and chemicals and will continue to seek ways to further reduce such waste.

We segregate, re-use and recycle the waste unavoidably produced in our production processes.

Waste paper and used aluminium printing plates are collected for recycling. Waste chemicals are collected for safe disposal.We invest in the latest production equipment which is more efficient therefore less wasteful.

Office and PrintroomWaste paper and spent toner cartridges are collected for recycling. Printing of emails is kept to a minimum.

Paper use has been reduced considerably over the last few years by supplying clients with soft copy proofs where possible.

Reduced resource use by using energy sources only when required and switching machinery and lighting off when not in use.

AdviceWe assist our customers in making the best choice if they require an alternative to our standard products but still want their print to be as green as possible.
