Ken Kutaragi, also known as the “The Father of the PlayStation, first created this software in secret for a project that he started with Nintendo. Eventually the relationship with Kutaragi and Nintendo would fade due to license disagreement and he would go on take create the first PlayStation as well as its successors( PS2, PS3) . Today he is president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, and continues to shock the world with his companies product releases including the upcoming PlayStation 4.

The goal is to make a family of products that completely changes the definition of home entertainment. Sony believes that it doesn’t matter if you’re a hard-core gamer whose thumb calluses that can deflect machine gun fire or if you just love Blu-ray movies, PlayStation entertainment products have something for you.

What do they do?

SCEA and PlayStation have various purposes and uses in our societies everyday life. Whether it be to simply use their consoles for gaming and home video entertainment or even for education or business through the many different personal tablets and laptops that Sony also offers. From gaming platforms and Blu ray disc players all the way to educational software on devices such as the Xperia tablet, SCEA continues to develop products that meet peoples needs from the office all the way to your living room sofa.

Uses

Sony continues to thrive and grow in aspects of profit due to its year by year development of phenomenal software that allows people enhance their home entertainment. SCEA has created such a large footprint in the world of gaming and video entertainment that even with record loses over the past eight years in Television they still plan to make a profit of $215 million this year alone from PS4 release.

Where is the money coming from ?

Although SCEA has its original console, concepts, and software there are still other companies that are similar in terms of gaming and home entertainment such as Microsoft(Xbox). Panasonic Bajaj Microsoft

SCEA has hit recent bumps in the road that have put dampers in many of their plans throughout the last ten years. Even with its recent troubles Sony says they plan to do record numbers with the new addition to the family, PlayStation 4

“Sony, which has lost money on televisions over the past eight years, wants to jump-start results with the mobile-defying PlayStation 4.”

Awesome games and systems have been no problem for people but prices have. The PS3 launched at $500-$600 and Sony wants to make the gaming system more appealing for its consumers, so the big question on the mind of games everywhere is, “How much will the damn thing cost?”

With the release of the PS4 approaching aside from the pricing and what games will be available for the console people want to know will they be able to play used games on it.

Because used games can be a bugbear for many game developers it has been rumored that for the first time users will be unable to play used games on their brand new PS4s, seems a tad unjust if you ask me.

Although extremely tempting and sounds fun a game developer would not be the most ideal job for me. If I was to offered a job from Sony I would want it to deal with aspects that I have dealt with before and areas that I know well.
