IMSciences is a young and innovative school operating the public sector which, after its inception in 1995, has excelled remarkably on the national higher educational scene of Pakistan. It has been ranked among the top 5 business schools of the country. The Institute is headed by a Director. For further details, please visit our website: www.imsciences.edu.pk In Nov. 2003 I went to Austria after being awarded a competitive scholarship by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan to pursue my PhD in Computer Science. Prior to that, I was serving as a lecturer at IMSciences. Leadership and academic management positions held at IMSciences Since June 2013 till date Joint Director, IMSciences The Joint Director is the academic head of the Institute. All the department heads and programme coordinators report this position. The Joint Director assumes the acting charge of the Director in case of his absence. The key responsibilities include: Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Institute and recommend modifications to the Director in existing policies and procedures as appropriate Forward policy suggestions to the Executive Committee through the Director IMSciences. Direct liaison with department heads and programme coordinators on various academic programmes offered at the Institute. Consultation with academic departments and examination section regarding semester start, semester breaks, examinations’ schedule etc. to ensure degree completion in stipulated time duration. Monitor teachers’ performance and evaluating feedback from programme heads and students and identify areas of improvements.

o It was organized by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)

funded by USAID. IMSciences is also an implementing partner with ASP-LUMS

Universities and Technology-based Economic Development -- (Stakeholders’ Meeting)
o The meeting was sponsored by the US State Dept., and USAID and hosted by
the HEC in Islamabad (Dec. 15 – 16, 2014). The meeting was attended by
Pakistani and US partners along with a special session delivered by the Director
Tech. Transfer of American University of Cairo, Egypt.
International level Strengthening Economy through University-Industry linkages (USA)
o Visited United States as a member of a delegation to understand the nature and
success of University – Industry linkages in the US universities. The visit was
sponsored by HEC, Pakistan, and US State Department, and hosted by US
Department of Commerce (Sept. 11 – 20, 2012)
o Attended the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM 2012)
eastern region meeting held in Philadelphia (Sept. 12 – 14, 2012)
o Met with Pakistani entrepreneurs in Washington DC and California, USA.
Training on turnitin – anti plagiarism software (Dubai)
o A two day training in Dubai was organized by the HEC and iParadigms, UK (Dec.
8 – 9, 2010)
o Introductory and advance level sessions were held elaborating on how to handle
plagiarism using advance features of turnitin.
Technology Licensing Workshop (Singapore)
o The workshop was organized and funded jointly by the US state Department and
HEC and was held in Singapore (March 10 – 14, 2014).
o Various practical sessions were delivered by renowned US professors and
lawyers outlining how to write agreements granting licenses for commercialized
products produced at the universities
Trainings / Workshops / Seminars / Conferences organized I was among the key management team to organize the first two-day workshop on
research methods held at Bara Gali, Pakistan (22 – 23 Nov. 2014). This was a joint effort
between IMSciences and University of Peshawar.
I was among the organizers of International Research Conference which was held in
Dubai (Feb. 6 – 10, 2014). The conference titled “Perspectives ion Small Business
Management and Entrepreneurship”, was a collaborated effort of IMSciences, British
Council, University of Southampton, UK under the project INSPIRE. There were 20
research papers presented besides 7 invited talks.
Invited talks / Guest lectures
A panel member on university-industry linkages at the entrepreneurial week organized at
IMSciences. The event was held in Nov. 16 – 21, 2014
Guest speaker at the inauguration of Centre of Integrative Bio Sciences at Cecos
University, Peshawar (Sept. 27, 2014). I gave a short speech on the importance of
entrepreneurial skills for university graduates.
I was invited as a subject specialist on the first Digital Youth Summit held in Peshawar
(21 – 22 May, 2014). The Digital Youth Summit is a tech conference and startup expo
with main objective to bring together the next generation of digital innovators in Pakistan,
with a primary focus on technology entrepreneurship, on-line work and ‘tech for social’
innovation. I participated in the panel which was composed of educationist and
academicians.
Delivered a lecture titled “Research and commercialization in Business Schools:
Lessons learnt from ORIC” at the International conference titled “Perspectives ion Small
Business Management and Entrepreneurship”, which was held in Dubai (Feb. 6 – 10,
2014)
Participated and presented a talk on “Establishment of ORIC at IMSciences: challenges
and achievements” at the Roundtable on Establishment and Strengthening of
Technology Management Offices (TMOs), held by the Intellectual Property Organization
(IPO) Pakistan, in Islamabad (Dec. 9 - 10, 2013).
Was invited as a Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of National level Information
Technology competition held at City University, Peshawar (Dec. 7, 2013). I gave a
speech on importance of software development in the international market besides
awarding prizes to position holders in the competition.
Invited lecture titled “University-Industry linkages: learning from the US experience”
delivered at the Debriefing Session on “Technology Transfer & Intellectual Property
Rights' status at USA -- A Comparative Analysis” in HEC, Islamabad (May 22, 2013).
