Hignly a u t h o r i t a t i v e m i l i t a r y sources a r e claiming t h a t t h e mystery of t h e "Flying Saucers1'--which has in t r igued Americans s ince 1947-- f i n a l l y h a s been solveti. The c r a f t , these sources <say, have been pos- i t i v e l y i d e n t i f i e d a s spy s a t e l l i t e s .

The sources c i t e a smatter ing of chapter verse , notably d e t a i l s on the crash of a saucer i n a barren a rea o f a Western s t a t e on the night of Oct. 16 , 1967. This c r a f t , i t i s claimed, was a s z t e l l i t e launched by -the Soviet Vnion which apparent ly went out of con t ro l while s t i l l i n the atmosphere. Eere a r e t h e d e t a i l s provided by the sources :

The s a t e l l i t e was s ighted by -two un iden t i f i ed persons 200 miles from the scene of t h e crash, about an hour before i t went down. They described the craf-ti a s apparent ly l1afire. l t Yresurnably, t h e c r a f t was a l s o picked up by m i l i t a r y radar covering the a rea , s ince t h e r e a re m i l i t a y i n s t a l l a t i o n s i n t&te general neighborhood.

A s some of h i s r e p o r t s have -appeared i n t h e A p r i l and May i s s u e s of SKYLOOK (ou r s from o t h e r s o u r c e s ) , we w i l l no t r e p e a t them he re , but he has one from Moberly which wc d i d n o t have and we f i n d i t q u i t e interes-king:--the l ady , who does n o t wish t o be named, r e p o r t e d t h a t on A p r i l 16 a t about 8 :30 p.m. she was northbound on 151, n o r t h of Madison and d r i v i n g about 65 miles pe r hour when she saw what she f irst thought was a f a l l i n g s t a r , but t hcn noted the object--about 300 o r 400 f e e t from the ground and s q u a r t e r mile away--made a r i g h t ang- l e t u r n and s t a r t e d fo l lowing h e r a long the highway, She s a i d she be- came f r igh t ened .

As she neared t h e Route K junc t ion , a f t e r being follow- ed by t h e o b j e c t about a mi l e , she switched h e r h e a d l i g h t s t o b r i g h t and a t t h a t moment t h e UFO 'turned a b r i l l i a n t whi te a l l ove r f o r a m a t t e r of seconds, t hcn t h e l i g h t went out . The Houghton "Daily Mining Gazette" c a r r i e d a s t o r y from Calumet where l i g h t s i n t h e sky--massive, moving and red-orange--were s ight - ed.
