The story of HTO Watches perhaps started when. . . . .

Going with its time, remaining modern in spite of thedevelpment and the evolution of society, journey bytrain changes our relation with time and distances.

With this new collection of wristwatches, HTOWatches symbolizes the living legend that is therailway; a form of transportation born with theindustrial revolution and as contemporary as ever.

Named "Grand Voyageur", made of stainless steel orwhite gold, it conveys a strong design, using simpleand logical forms inspired by the construction andindustrial mechanics.

The story of HTO Watches perhaps started whenyoung Vianney Halter, then aged of 15, got off thetrain at St Lazare Station to enroll himself in thewatchmaking school of Paris.

Twenty three years later,he became a member of theprestigious AHCI (Horological Academy ofIndependent Creators) and since 1994 he creatsexceptionnal timepieces of unclassifiable style withparticular complications in his own manufacture.

When two designers approached him in 2001 withtheir idea for HTO Watches, his memories as arailwayman's son certainly played a part in the warmwelcome they received.

This project consisted of paying tribute to the mutualcontributions between the world of railway and theone of watchmaking.

Indeed, though few people remember it, theestablishment of an official time came along with thedevelopment of the train in the 19th century.

The train coordination on the various networksneeded the launch of an unique time for the wholenation. In France, the government of the 3rdRépublique ordained the 14th of March in 1891 thelegal time on the basis of Paris MeanTime.

The size of the crown matches the flanges on thelugs. Generous notching machined along thecircumference ensures an easy and effective grip.

The ardillon buckle evoks a locomotive towinghook. It is machined in the same material as thecase. As an option,it can be replaced by a foldingclasp with an specific buckle design.

The design logic of Grand Voyageur and theresort to right solutions for the details induce adeserved perception of sturdiness and efficiency.

The simple and logical forms of Grand Voyageurconstantly refer to the railway universe.

The case, with its cylindrical shape and itsoversized dial seems to have been extracted fromthe dashboard of a powerful locomotive. Thisinstrument measures time as others wouldindicate pressure, speed or electrical intensity.

To ensure security on the wrist, the lugs arebonded with the case. A metallic stirrup, fittedwith wide flanges and tightened with fourscrews, bears the strap.

Grand Voyageur needs autonomy, accuracy, convenience and durability that can only begiven by a movement designed andmanufactured in Switzerland.

From all the movements available from someof the most famous manufacturers, VianneyHalter recommended the choice of the ETA205.911 caliber.

This movement can be considered as theultimate outcome of the swiss horology. It presents a double nature, both mechanicaland electronic : as in all automatic windingwatches,a rotor is

moved on by the movement of the wrist.Butthe energy which is recovered like this is notstored in a spiral spring : it is transmitted to amicrogenerator which converts it into electricenergy, stored in an accumulator.

This system feeds an electronic oscillatorwhich generates the command signals for amicromotor. The latter transmits mechanicalimpulsions to the gear wheels for the displayof hours, minutes, seconds and date. Thanks to its caliber,GrandVoyageur has a fullload autonomy of about 100 days that can beindefinitely restored by a few movements ofthe wrist.

Antide Janvier was born in 1751 in Brives, asmall village in the French Jura. Remarkablyprecocious, Antide Janvier was an eagerstudent and relentless worker. He was rapidlyrecognized as a remarkable clockmaker.

He knew three french Kings (Louis XV, LouisXVI and Louis XVIII) and one Emperor(Napoleon 1st) and was several times titled"Clockmaker of the King".

When he died, aged 84, he had producednumerous incredible clocks only a few ofwhich remain, now housed in museums or inprivate collections.

In the small village of Sainte-Croix, VianneyHalter and his his young dynamic andenthusiastic team perpetuate the tradition ofexcellence and haute horlogerie.

Beside the incredible timekeepers which areproduced under the brand Les MontresVianney Halter, there are the HTO Watchesdevelopped with the french designers JeanYves Mariez and Pascal Pagès.
