MTP KIT is a modern technology used to
terminate unwanted pregnancy by means of two types of pills named abortion pills. Mifepristone and misoprostol are major component of MTP KIT.
Abortion is generally performed by using two methods- surgical and non surgical methods.
Surgical methods are performed by using clinical devices and chemical agents. Surgical method is of two types- dilatation and evacuation and aspiration method.
Role of mifepristone present in MTP KIT Mifepristone is an anti -progesterone
hormone. It competes with the progesterone at its receptor sites and inhibits the activity of progesterone. Progesterone is a hormone that is vital for the continuance of pregnancy and proper growth of fetus and placenta. Progesterone helps to provide oxygen and nutrition to the fetus for proper growth. Mifepristone is available as a single pill in the strength of 200mg. This pill is meant to be taken orally.
