DAY 1The week before a group had gone a

mountian trip to Look out and had a great time. For some it had

been their rst mountain ight. One guy had a 7 hour ight and I

was Jelous. So when bruce asked me if I wanted to go on a

trip I was more than willing. we were going ot head up to

Ellenville but the weather wasnt looking good there

so we also headed to Lookout. After

DAY 2

Brian launch

Ridge we loaded into the KHK Van (Alfred) wendsday night.

There were 7 of us and we all had some mountian time but

not all of had been to Lookout before. It was Jon, Mike, Lew-

is, Brian, Dave, Me and Andrea. Andrea pretty much was the

group leader and helped us launch and drove us back up,

Shes an amazing Pilot and instructor, Shes also an H4

and had plenty of oppor tunities to show us why.

People took turns driving and we arrived at Lookout

around 8 or 9 am. we checked out the LZ, then went up

top to get checked in and pay for camping. Then we setup and launched because they told us it might pick up and

they wouldnt let H2s launch. I think everyone but Dave

Lewis and I are H3 so we didnt want to get stuck waiting.

Jon launched rst and maybe too early then Mike Launched and they both went down. My expectations werent high I was

just happy to y a mountian again. Andrea helped with all the launches which made me a little more comfortable because I

scared some stranger wouldnt let go of my wires. I took off and went up. so did Brian, and Dave and Mike. Brian Dave and I

stayed up 4 hours, and Lewis, Mike and Jon got another ight and Andrea took a ight too. It was awesome. Friday we took a

morning sledder then I ended a 2 hour ight going exploring and then barely sneaking back to the LZ. then I had a afternoon

sledder. Dave (with no vario) was at top a of the stack

the whole time.

Saturday was epic. We all were already happy with

the ights wed had but the story of the rst group stay-

ing up 5 and 7 hours was on our minds and we knew we

could do it. Conditions were great we started launch-

ing at ten, I think I went rst. before the rst hour I had

to pee really bad, but the air was so good so I kept

ying. After 3 hours I told myself Id just break my Per-sonal best of 4, then after 4 the air was getting better

and cloud base was higher so I said 5 then I have to land. at 5 hours I was at 5200 ft and Jon

was coming up. My body hurt, Id tried several times to go from my cocoon harness but it just

wasnt working. Dave had gone exploring and had to land in H4 conditions (he landed on his

feet of course). It took me another hour to get down and after 6 hours I landed and ran all the

way to the restroom with my glider, then hoped out my harness and came out of my shorts and

ran in in my underwear. Same thing happened with Jon but he stayed up over 7 hours which

was awesome. The next day was even more epic but we had to leave early so we all only ew

an hour. It was tough because in no time we were up high and trying to touch the clouds. As

we ew over the valley we maintained Altitude or went higher. Conditons were roudy in the LZ

but we all landed on our feet. Dave got pinned on launch by an instructor who declared H3sonly as he was about to go. He would have been ne but he was respectful. KHK represneted

well, it was an incredible trip the most fun ying Ive Ever had. My favorite moment was when

all seven of us were going up in the same thermal on Saturday. Big thanks to Andy, Bruce, and

Andrea, the Lookout people for the parties and food. Whens the next trip? sign us up.
