ENGLISH LABORATORY THE FARM

We really had fun learning the farm animals. Today we’re going to review some vocabulary and we are also going to do a little practice in our computers, learning how to make a nice background and adding pictures to it. So please follow the instructions and be prepared to have tons of fun.

What do we need? Well, to start, turn on your pc and go right to start button,

Click it and look for this icon, once you have it, click on it… ready?

Great job you guys! Now we’re inside “word”, this is the program where we are going to work our farm.

So far so good! Now we’re inside of word, so next step is to go to Page layout. The layout option is on top of your page. Can you see the burgundy circle? It shows you where to click. Ok?

Once we get to this point we’ll look out for the orientation and will click it, then we’ll have on screen the options of portrait or landscape; so please select landscape option and our sheet will change the orientation, again the burgundy circle demonstrates where the commands are located.

Now we have to change the size page, let’s back TO PAGE LAYOUT and select SIZE, it displays the options and we’re going to click on LETTER size, again the burgundy circle demonstrates where the commands are located.

Isn’t this fun? Well, now we’re going to add our farm background. Do you wonder how? Ok. Follow up for the next steps. We’re in Page layout but now, instead of going to orientation, we will look for page background, and find page color, click to get options and choose fill effects. Look for the arrow, the red square and the burgundy circle to make sure you’re in the right place. Well done… we’re almost there! Don’t get sleepy head…

Once you clicked fill effects, look for the picture option, and click on it

Now you must go to select picture, click it. See how easy it is…

Word is going to display a select image explorer, where you will find the options in the left side of the computer, there we’ll click on desktop and look for a file folder called the farm.

Now double click on it and it will open

Once you do this you’ll find the background for our exercise. Click on it twice and we’re all set… it’s just a matter of clicking ok. That’s it! Now as you can see, to complete our exercise you must insert the animals to mach our back ground. So how are we going to work this? Well, step by step… just be patient.

First, go to insert and click.

Second look for picture icon and click Third find the folder named “The farm”, the one we used to create the background, remember?

Now select the image, let’s say… the pig, now double click on it and that’s it, our pig is inserted. What do we do with it? Well, use the right click on the pig to display some options and find the one that says wrap text

Then look up for the transparent option and select it.

Now you’re free to move your picture around by holding the left click. Drag the picture onto its correct place. Are you ready?

Now, practice with the other two animals from our vocabulary and we’re set. After you’re done, please save it as usual in your English folder (remember we practice this in a previous lab) so we can check your work later. This was fun… till next time…
