PARISH PHOTOGRAPHERS
Showcase your work! You’re invited to submit 2-4 photographs
for our Parish Art Show that showcases the work of the photographyministry and photographers at Mission and Parish.
In the spirit of St. Francis, our theme is: All Good Things: fromthe words of St. Francis’ Praises of God. : “You are love. You are
beauty. You are gentleness. You are all good. You are supreme
good. You are peace. You are justice. You are joy. You are all
riches and you suffice for us.” Your photographs should express your interpretation of the
theme. Please choose your works and take to Kinkos or any other
graphic arts business of your choice. Have your artwork printed and
enlarged to a size of your choice and mount your work on a posterboard. Please place your name and phone number on the back of your poster board.
Bring your pieces to Karen Willson in the parish office on or beforeSaturday November 19th., 2011. The art show will take place onSunday, November 20th
hafter the 8am Mass in the Serra Gardens
under tents and end after the Spanish Mass, about 3pm. Your art-
work will be available for pickup in the parish office on Tuesday,
November 22, 2011.Thank you for participating! Any questions? Please call the head of
the Photography Ministry, Tom Reising at 760-941-6811
TOWN HALL Q&A WEEK TWO
This week we have two similar questions to answer. The first
is in the form of a statement---Money is needed first before
any new services or expansion. The parish Finance Council
established a policy several years ago that before any project
was started (especially if money would be borrowed to fund
the project) that at least one half of the funds had to be in
hand. This is a very conservative way to insure that we donot start a project that we cannot finish and that any debt be
at a reasonable level that the parish can handle. The parish
has been debt free since February of 2008. The second ques-
tion deals with whether or not the Bishop has any say in how
we spend our money . On a day to day basis the short answer
is no; however for major building programs (even as small as
our Parking Lot/Sports Court) we must present our plans and
our needs in order to get permission to proceed.
ATTENTION ALL MINISTRY HEADS: Please make plans to
attend our next Quarterly Leadership Meeting. The meeting
is set for Saturday, Nov. 19. We will begin at 9:00am in theparish Chapel and finish by 12noon. Please come and con-tribute to build a stronger Parish!
SICK AND HOMEBOUND MINISTRY: We will meet on
Sat., Nov. 19, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Rm. #1. Volunteers are
needed to take the Holy Eucharist to those in the hospital. If
you can help, please attend this meeting – training is pro-
vided. Our speaker will be our pastor, Fr. Chuck Talley. For
more info., call Dorothy/Walter Arney at 760-722-5616.

brate St. Andrew Dung Lac and his companionswith a Mass at the Old Mission on Sunday, Nov.

Library Category: Church Documents
If you prefer original sources of our Catholic faith, here is
the best category. Here you will find Papal Encyclicals & let-
ters; Documents from the Second Vatican Council, plus easy-
to-understand commentaries; Pastoral letters from the U.S
Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) on topics that affect
the every day life of the laity; and copies of the official Catho-
lic Catechism, plus more commentaries.
If you have questions about the “whys” and “wherefores”
of what we as Catholics believe and practice and want to
read what was originally written by the Magisterium of the
Church, browse this section. After all, they were written for
and to us—the laity—the Church. So become informed!

“¡no teman!”
