The Revenue Cycle of the Future▪ As healthcare systems become more focused on the patient

experience and quality outcomes, the effective management of health data will become more important

▪ This includes care communications and data sharing in documents such as the Continuity of Care Document and state health information networks

▪ As Meaningful Use continues to drive adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) across the U.S., many HIM professionals will be needed to oversee data integrity, applications build, and EHR management

▪ Reimbursement methodologies are shifting away from pay-for-service and towards pay-for-performance, requiring strong health informatics and information management knowledge and leadership within healthcare systems
