PRESENTING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE FUTURE
What is MSDAC...?
Principle of Operation:
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Each track section has Axle Detectors along with their field units installed at both limiting ends.
The field units counts the number of axles when train passes over their detection point. The field units are connected with Central Evaluator by means of ½ Quad Cable.
The stored wheel counts as well as health of the field units are continuously transmitted to Central Evaluator by means of telegram packets.
The Central Evaluator receives the packets from all the electronic field units and evaluates vacancy status of different track sections and generates vital output for each section.
MSDAC System Design:
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Designed as per RDSO specification - SPN/176/2012 ver 3.0 or latest.
Ÿ 2oo3 Hardware Architecture.
Configurable up to 40 Detection points and generates up to 40 track outputs.
Ÿ On-site configurable.
Ÿ Scalable in multiples of 8 DPs
Dual DC-DC converter for redundancy.
8 channel Vital Relay Card to drive vital outputs
Multi Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) is a signaling equipment designed for simultaneous detection of track vacancy for several lines in a station or yard including point zone sections. The system provides individual vital relay output for each section point zone based on the principle of axle counting.
Salient Features:
Ÿ Low mean time to repair (MTTR).
Ÿ Modular Design.
Ÿ Easy to upgrade.
Ÿ User selectable (Hard/Preparatory) resetting.
Ÿ Real time and Remote (Optional) monitoring
Ÿ No requirement of power cable to send power to field units.
Ÿ Inbuilt Event Logger card for offline analysis.
Ÿ Q type 24V, 1000 Ohm 6F/6B vital relay output.
Ÿ No need for trolley protection track circuit.
Ÿ Range of detection points is 4 Km for centralized power supply and 20Kms for local power supply.
Ÿ Can be installed on 19” CT Rack/Standard 42U Rack as per requirement.
Ÿ 2oo3 Hardware Architecture based Evaluator Module Card (EM08).
Ÿ Relay Driver Card for generating 8 vital outputs.
Ÿ Each set of one EM08 Card & Relay Driver Card can be connected to 8 inputs and generates 8 vital outputs.
Ÿ 5 sets of these modules can be housed in a single 19” Rack.
Ÿ Inbuilt event logger for event logging & remote monitoring.
Ÿ Dual DC-DC converter for redundancy
Ÿ Configuration Card for onsite configuration of Yard Layout.
Ÿ Operates on 24VDC supply.
System Description:
The MSDAC System consist of several components. Some of these component are located in the field and some are at the station, the description of these Components is as follows:
Central Evaluator (CE):
DACF-730
Pre-wired Relay Assembly Unit:
Ÿ It is pre-wired relay assembly unit for connecting relays with central evaluator.
Ÿ Mountable on 19” CT Rack.
Ÿ Each unit can house 4 Nos of Q-type 24V, 1000 Ohm Relays.
Ÿ Can be upgraded on site as per requirement.
Digital Axle Counter Field Unit (DACFU):Ÿ Each Unit is configured as a detection point.
Ÿ Detects wheels & stores count based on 2oo2 logic.
Ÿ Transmits wheel count & health information to CE.
Ÿ 2oo2 Hardware Architecture.
Ÿ Each field unit is connected t o evaluator on half quad cable in star configuration.
Axle Detector:
Ÿ Operates on 21KHz and 23KHz frequencies.
Ÿ Works on phase modulation principle.
Ÿ Web mounted type.Ÿ
Ÿ Unaffected by 4/6 spoke push trolley.
Centralized DC to DC Converter:
Ÿ Capable of generating 8/16 channels of 96VDC, required for field units in case of centralized power supply is used.
Ÿ Overload/short circuit protection for individual channels.
Ÿ Works on 24VDC input supply.
Reset Panel:
Ÿ Section wise indication of Section Clear, Section Occupied, Preparatory Reset & Line Verification.
Ÿ SM’s control key.
Ÿ Section wise non resettable counter for recording reset.
Ÿ Can be customized as per yard layout.
Configuration Terminal:
Ÿ User Friendly configuration tool for configuring system in factory or at site.
Ÿ Configuration using Windows based GUI tool.
Ÿ Can be used with any commercial desktop computer using serial port.
Serial Cable

Modular Design:
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
Ÿ
DACF-730 offers facility to user to upgrade their system as per requirement.
Cost effective solution to convert 8DP model up to 40 DP by adding various modules as per requirement.
Dual detection/redundancy can be incorporated at site with same or different evaluator housing.
No OEM intervention is required for upgradation.
Reduced inventory since most of components are similar to that of existing SSDAC & HASSDAC, Axle detectors, Modem Card etc.
