Mission
To fulfill Healthy People 2010 Objective 1.7- “Increase the proportion of schools of medicine, schools of nursing and health professional training schools whose basic curriculum for health care providers includes the core competencies in health promotion and disease prevention”
The Conveners of the Task Force
The Healthy People Curriculum Task Force was established in 2002 as a joint project of the Association of Academic Health Centers (AHC) and the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine (ATPM)

Curriculum Framework
A generic Curriculum Framework that will serve as basis for:
Intra & interprofesion communication Curriculum design Curriculum monitor & accreditation review Monitoring of baseline and follow-up data for Healthy People 2010.

3. Revision of Framework January 20044. Approval of Initial Framework including

This name has been agreed upon by the Task Force and should be used to identify this curriculum it is designed to indicate:
Individual clinically oriented prevention often incorporated in the term Health Promotion-Disease Prevention or Clinical Prevention
Population oriented prevention increasingly incorporated in the term population health.

Data Collection ProcessBaseline and follow-up data is required for Healthy
People 2010Objective 1.7 requires baseline data which has been collected from four health professional organizations including AAMC
AAMC now will collect data on all 19 domains on a yearly basis
All 7 health professional organizations will collect selected data items to provide comparable data prior to 2010

Will examine Public Health 101’s role in undergraduate education and as suggested or recommended prior to application to medical school and other graduate clinical education

“Outreach Conference” February 2, 2006 to encourage modification and adoption of curriculum framework by additional health professions
Interprofessional Education Conference planned for 2007 to encourage innovations in interprofessional education in clinical prevention and population health
