Our Methodology :


MS CERTs multidisciplinary experts would visit the factory, organise and conduct the entire electrical utilities and energy system study in collaboration with and participation to the plant Management and Engineers.

We would request the Management of the plant to identify a core team from their plant personnel who would be associated with the MS CERT team during the course of the study. This core team should ideally have adequate experience and knowledge about the operations and history of the major equipment installed in the facility. The MS CERT team of energy professionals and this plant maintenance engineers will form the AUDIT TEAM.

Energy audit will be carried out in two phases viz work through audit and detail audit.

Phase-I: This will be the work through energy audit which involves analysis of past data and visual inspection to carry out a complete basic assessment of the energy management status at the factory facilities to identify the focus areas of the detailedmanagement status at the factory facilities to identify the focus areas of the detailed energy audit. Phase-2: This will be the detailed energy audit study which will involve instrumental measurements, critical analysis and studies of the energy systems and energy consuming equipment.

While carrying out the detail energy audit, MS CERT would also review the existing equipment loading vis--vis thermal balance and other relevant aspects that would have a bearing on the product quality, energy consumption and wastages. Future expansion programmes , if any, would be taken into account while making the recommendations.


The scope of this proposed energy audit study would be:


Establishing present Specific Energy Consumption, SEC (kWh/MT of product) and exploring opportunities toImprove SEC by improving energy efficiency, establishing better control and curbing wasteful usages in followingSystems. Inventories and study major energy consuming systems and equipment in order of energy efficiency improvement.

A) On Site Measurements & Trial on Electrical Distribution System:

During energy audits of the selected units, the following on-site measurements will be taken using portable energyaudit instruments to assess the performance of the electrical system.

1. Demand mapping, power quality like harmonics, true RMS voltage & current sine wave & power factor.2. Transformer load & loss assessment 3. Loads of LT feeders of different floors, unbalance voltage & current, neutral current, earth leakage etc4. Assessment of motor loading in kW basis, identification over size inefficient motors -drives, unbalance voltage in

motor terminals 5. Performance test on DG set6. UPS wise load assessment, harmonic distortion

A) On Site Measurements & Trial on Withering Trough, Rolling, Boiler & Dryer System:1. Different measurements & trial flow measurements, flue gas measurements, temperature, heat mass balance & thereof identify scope of energy , g , p , y p gy

savingsB) On Site Measurements & Trial on Illumination System: LUX measurements, room dimension, lighting power density & Lighting feeder.C) Compressed Air System: Free Air Delivery test, Leak test, Load /unload power consumption etc. & thereof identify scope of energy savingsD) Economic feasibility study and design for investments necessary with associated pay back periods via-a-vis benefits in respect to

implementation of optimal solutions. Recommend for employee awareness programme, if needed.

After conducting the study, MS CERT would come out with specific solutions on power systemAfter conducting the study, MS CERT would come out with specific solutions on power system improvement and identified energy conservation opportunities (ECOs). The ECOs would be clearly segregated as

1. ECOs with immediate pay back2. ECOs with a pay back < 1 year3. ECOs with a pay back between 1 and 2 years.


MS CERTs Team and Strength


MS CERT has a multi-professional, highly qualified, long experienced and trained team comprising of engineers, professionally certified energy auditors, BEE (Govt. Of India) of handling assignments in all sectors of energy usages.

It is fully equipped with required instruments tools and tackles. The team used to effectively undertake energy audit activitiesith th i ti fwith the given time frame.

The energy experts works in collaboration with and participation of the clients professionals. During the energy audit study they also shares the energy management concepts and procedures with professionals of the client.

Time Frame:The on site historic and operational data collection, instrumental measurements and comprehensive energy audit study will take about 1 to 3 weeks time. The analysis of the study findings would be done in MS CERTs Kolkata office. This is expected to take about 3 weeks time.

The deliverables:A detailed draft report with recommendations for improvements, would be presented to the client within 3 weeks after completion of the on-site study. The final energy audit report would be prepared addressing all queries, views and opinions and would be submitted within 7 days after

having response from the client.
