December, 2010– Dual Degree in E&S Science and Geology– Additional certifications in General Science &
Middle School Mathematics• Graduated from Epiphany in 2001• Favorite sports teams–Pittsburgh Steelers–Philadelphia Flyers.
Class Policies
• Check and copy information from the board when you come in
• Think about today’s “Objectives” and write down a few things you (would like to) know about the topic

Extra-curricular
• Daily / Weekly science news– Once a month, you will provide a brief report on
interesting science news• Science Trivia questions– Answers due at the beginning of class on Friday
Exam Info
• Exams announced at least one week in advance
• Will be challenging, but fair– Examine what you DO know– Leave nothing blank!– Each test has 1 extra credit question.
Grading Policies• Homework assignments are each
worth 10 points – These add up over the course of a
trimester• Exams worth 100 points each– Multiple choice– Fill in the blank– Short answer (1-5 sentences)– Essay (a complete answer)– Bonus.
Review Info
• Have 2 “Review days” before an exam• One day to work on chapter review– Chapter reviews can be turned in for extra credit
(1 point of credit for every 5 correct answers)• One day to play Jeopardy! review game.
Mad Science
• We have access to Lab Learner!• Labs will vary in value from 20 to 50 points– Important to follow instructions and answer
questions completely– Lab Safety contract
• Anyone who is considered to be behaving inappropriately / recklessly during lab will be removed from class and receive a zero for that lab.
Behavior Policies• Class Behavior– Worth 10% of your TOTAL grade– If you have to be spoken to, you will receive a
Warning– Any incidents after a warning will be a Strike, which
will start affecting your grade– 3 strikes in a day / appropriate amount of time will
result in a Level 2 and a 2% penalty• Just be respectful of yourself, your classmates
and your teachers.
