Located in Wallingford, Pennsylvania on a beautiful, 16-acre suburban campus, Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School (MPRCS) promotes a Catholic learning environment in which every child develops spiritually, intellectually and socially. In addition to a religious education firmly rooted in our Catholic tradition, we offer a challenging academic curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards and Archdiocesan guidelines. Students develop a love of learning and a strong moral conscience in a disciplined, caring environment.

As an Archdiocesan regional school, we draw students from local parishes with diverse ethnic and economic populations. Ideal teacher-to-student ratios allow faculty to develop strong relationships with students and families, while state-of-the art technology keeps students and teachers current in our rapidly changing world. As part of that commitment to technology, MPRCS provides every teacher and student in grades one through eight with an iPad for home and school use.

With opportunities to experience music, art, theater, foreign languages and physical education as part of the curriculum, all students can find their area of excellence within the MPRCS community.

MISSION STATEMENTMother of Providence Regional Catholic School forms students to be full and practicing members of the Church,

calls all to live fully the message of Jesus Christ, is a center for academic excellence, prepares children to be

contributing members of the global community, and promotes Catholic social teaching.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed having our children attend MPRCS. The academics and extra-curricular

programs are excellent, and the class size is perfect — preparing our children for high school.”

SPIRITUAL FOCUSAs a Catholic school, we seek to create an environment where Christian values are taught and reinforced through example. Students expand their knowledge of the Catholic faith through religion classes and preparation for Sacraments. Daily prayer, attendance at Mass, and service opportunities throughout the school year help students grow in their faith lives individually and as part of the community.

BENEFITS OF PRE-K THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE EDUCATIONAs a preschool through eighth grade program, MPRCS provides a continuous academic and social experience for students. The consistency of teachers, classmates, programs and expectations establishes a warm, close-knit community where students have time to grow in knowledge and responsibility.

Middle school students benefit significantly from this structure. They are showcased as leaders at MPRCS, with many opportunities to build confidence and leadership skills. At this exciting time in their social and emotional development, middle school students are role models for our younger students, and encouraged to reach their full potential in a supportive environment.

FACULTY AND PROFESSIONAL STAFFOur certified and degreed teachers staff Pre-K through eighth grade, as well as Honors Math, technology, a learning support program, music, art, Spanish, French, library skills, and physical education. Many of our faculty members have advanced degrees and all attend professional development courses in their respective fields.

The faculty and professional staff work to create a dynamic learning environment for every student, challenging each to achieve his or her personal best. Most importantly, they assist students in integrating religious truths and morality into decision-making in contemporary society.

PRIMARY SCHOOL (PRE-K THROUGH KINDERGARTEN)Developing a strong foundation for life-long learning is the goal of primary education at MPRCS. Students are prepared for future academic success in a lively, caring environment.

The curriculum includes religion, reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. Instruction focuses on achieving reading readiness, developing writing skills and mastering basic number concepts. Students are introduced to the teachings of Jesus Christ through Bible stories and celebrations of Catholic holidays, with the importance of practicing Christian values integrated throughout the curriculum.

Primary students also attend weekly classes in art, music, foreign language, technology, library skills and physical education. Instruction continues outside the classroom with periodic excursions to local cultural, historical and agricultural institutions.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (FIRST THROUGH FIFTH GRADES) In the elementary grades, the curriculum shifts from “learning to read” to “reading to learn” with a focus on critical thinking and problem solving. Students continue to develop verbal, writing and social skills and increase proficiency in mathematics. Studying other cultures outside the local community helps students begin to find their place in a larger world.

Teachers work closely with each student to ensure academic and other developmental goals are reached. Students who benefit from small group or individual instruction may be referred to our Learning Support Program. Faculty members successfully balance the use of technology in the classroom with traditional teaching and learning techniques to provide the best learning environment for all students.

Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion deepens students’ knowledge of their faith and strengthens their connection to the faith community. Students also participate in Mass, Adoration and prayer services throughout the school year.

“From the first day we saw middle school students interacting with our three year old we knew that MPRCS was right for us. We love the family atmosphere at the school and that the older students are encouraged to

serve as role models for the younger kids. Faculty and staff are accessible and responsive — they truly care about each student.”

TECHNOLOGY Recognizing that technology is an important part of education today, MPRCS has developed a

long-term strategic plan to ensure our students and faculty have access to the most appropriate

and up-to-date equipment. As part of this plan, we support a full-time technology faculty

member and on-site technician. All students attend weekly, age-appropriate technology classes

in a well-equipped technology lab. Upgrades are planned for and implemented annually.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (SIXTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADES)In preparation for high school, college and career, middle school students continue to pursue a structured academic program with special emphasis on reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Classes are departmental; students move throughout the building to meet with teachers with expertise in different subject areas, including Learning Support and Honors Math. Middle school faculty members support students in developing effective time management and organizational skills critical for success in high school and beyond. An academic highlight for eighth grade students is the production of a weekly news broadcast, where they are involved in all aspects of news gathering, writing, editing and recording.

Most importantly, middle school is where students develop into leaders with a sound academic and moral foundation. Opportunities for leadership include serving in elected positions on Student Council, participating in the Prayer Partner program with our younger students, and taking lead roles in religious celebrations. Middle school students live the Gospel message of service by organizing local and international charitable service projects throughout the year.

Graduates of MPRCS are confident, well-educated young men and women, proud of their Catholic values and prepared for success in the future.
