When we became fans
Firefox 1 was trying to cross “The chasm”
When we became fans
Grass root marketing and word of mouth did a lot…
When we became fans
We liked the to read a lot: Mozilla.org
Asa’s blog
Now Firefox is mainstream
We would like to follow the interesting stuff but…
?Where is it
To technical
It is to much
I like to take my time and read (not click in websites)
So why not a magazine
For a target base (13.5 %) *

But what about them
Do they know where to find interesting stuff?
?
They like technical stuff…
Only a small target base (2.5 %) *

They like technical stuff…
So create a space related to the magazine for further reading. In depth technical reviews, with supplementary material on the web.
Why them also
Other cool stuff will come, not only in the Mozilla landscape, so keep them interested! Then the early adopters will grass root it!
Why them also
So you dynamically focus on the mainstream of today and tomorrow…
Will they read it?
They do not want to read a lot, but they may want to learn some things…
?Is it a target????
Yes and no, but some is good.
Large target base (34 %) *

And them?
The remaining 50%, they do not drive the new stuff forward. They may get curious occasionally
Some curiosity
What are they reading
Is that something for me?
I email, what is this blue bird doing for emails?
A magazine is not a portal or news-website
versus
But web based journals do exsist
Lets talk content1. Mozilla dictated
2. Some Mozilla dictated, some community input
3. Little Mozilla input, Community dictated
4. Community dictated
1. Editorial, intern
2. Editorial, intern/extern, SFX, peer reviewed articles?
3. Alsmost a wiki, a collection
4. Could be anything…
My opinion…• As a scientist I like
journals based on “interactive open-access journal for the communication peer-reviewed research”
• Why can not some of the content come from outside if relevant to the Mozilla landscape
• Mozilla landscape?
Mozilla landscape
Make it clear, say it here
