The flowering redbuds, dogwoods, and tulip trees were beautiful, and we are now mowing our grass on a weekly basis. It is now time to plant our gardens and flower beds – my favorite spring outside activity! I would also like to “plant” the idea of becoming more active in your in your state society. Attend the next WV scientific and business meeting, join a committee, volunteer to write an article for the newsletter, or present a scientific session. You will reap the benefits of meeting other al- lied health professionals, networking, and learning more about your profession. We had a great spring meeting on April 22 at the Pierpont Advanced Technology Center in Fairmont. Five CEUs were awarded - topics included chronic lymphocytic leukemia, sepsis markers, legislative issues pertaining to the laboratory, and Hemoglobin A1C conversion to serum glucose levels. We had a scrumptious catered meal, and we collected toys and children’s books for the Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown in lieu of registration fees. During lunch, Michael Waide, MT, conducted a tour for attendees of the new Pierpont ATC facility and student laboratories. We also had honored guests with us – Ivette Rivera, Eastern District Councilor, and her husband Peter from New York City. This year’s meeting had a record attendance. If you could not attend this year, make plans NOW to attend next year’s WV scientific and business meeting tentatively scheduled for April 21, 2018, at the Pierpont ATC in Fairmont. The AMT National Educational Program and Business Meeting will be held July 9-13, 2017, at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Plaza in Kan- sas City, Mo. Hotel rates are 129/night + tax. A great line up of speakers can be found in the Preliminary Program in the latest issue of the AMT Events. Remember to record your continuing education activities online using AMTrax. You can easily print out a “report card” and pr esent it to your employer showing your commitment to lifelong learning and to the profession. Two recognition weeks were held this spring. Spring is here, and we are enjoying some great weather. The flowering redbuds, dogwoods, and tulip trees were beautiful, and we are now
