People use visualisation in a number of different ways. It’s the picture you see in your head.
Activity: Split your page into six boxes. Draw a picture of each of the following situations. Remember there are no wrong answers as it is the picture you see in your head.

*When measuring length, remember to line the ruler up correctly and that we begin measuring at 0 not 1. *Measure the width of your finger. Sally and Peter were moving into a new house and wanted to see where they could fit their lounge in their new lounge room. They measured the length of the lounge with their feet. Sally measured the length of the lounge as 8 ½ feet long. Peter measured the length of the lounge as 7 feet long.
Think about the following questions:
o *Why did Peter and Sally get different measurements?
o *How can Peter and Sally ensure they get the same measurement?
o *Look at the visual representation of the size difference of Sally and Peter’s foot at the following link.
*Imagine you are creating a vegetable garden in your back yard
*Design a garden selecting 3 to 5 types of plants that will be grown
*In your design include how many centimetres your plants would be apart from each other.

*On your poster you will need to provide information regarding the selection of your plants and materials
*Research the types of plants you have selected and write how tall they will grow, how much space they need, how much water and any other additional information
*Don’t forget to use the correct units of measurement (mm, cm, m)

*Write a dinner menu for the family that would include the vegetables/fruit that you have selected from the garden
*You can use existing recipe books to assist you in designing a dinner menu
• *We need a standard unit to measure objects that everyone knows. *Centimetres (cm) and metres (m) are standard units.
• *Centimetres (cm) can be seen on your ruler.
• *Measure various objects around the room in centimetres (cm) and/or metres (m)
• *Find and record an object that is:
