The Guiding System, the new way to create your

electrical installations

A comprehensive offer of products with consistent design

The Guiding System is first and foremost a Merlin Gerin product

offer covering all electrical distribution needs. However, what

makes all the difference is that these products have been designed

to operate together: mechanical and electrical compatibility,

interoperability, modularity and communication.

Thus the electrical installation is both optimised and more efficient:

better continuity of supply, enhanced safety for people and

equipment, guaranteed upgradeability, effective monitoring and control.

Tools to simplify design and implementation

With the Guiding System, you have a comprehensive range of tools

- the Guiding Tools - that will help you increase your product

knowledge and product utilisation. Of course this is in compliance

with current standards and procedures.

These tools are regularly updated and include technical booklets and

guides, design aid software, training courses, etc.

The Guiding System, combined

with the know how and creativity,

allows optimised, reliable, open-ended

and standard compliant installations

For a genuine partnership with you

Because each electrical installation is unique, there is no standard

solution. With the Guiding System, the variety of combinations

allows for genuine customisation solutions. You can create and

implement electrical installations to meet your creative

requirements and design knowledge.

You and Merlin Gerin’s Guiding System form a genuine partnership.

NMC Chassis1250A/1600A/2000A

Functions and Characteristics

FunctionMerlin Gerin’s NMC chassis can be used to build flexible and adaptable main and secondary switchboards up to 2000A, for industrial and commercial sites.

The NMC chassis is specifically designed to accommodate Merlin Gerin devices, through its large choice of incomers (Switch Disconnectors, Moulded Case Circuit Breakers-MCCBs), and outgoing MCCBs (Compact NS range).

Technical Data• 3 Phase • from 14 to 44 modules• current rating up to 2000A• short circuit withstand: 63kA rms for 1s• optional IP2X protection

DescriptionThe NMC chassis range is adapted to a large variety of requirements.

Customised versions:You can create and implement an electrical distribution system to meet your specific requirements and design.

Choice of circuit breakers: Suitable for Compact NS Moulded Case Circuit Breakers, 1P, 2P and 3P up to 1250A.

Current rating:Available in three current ratings: 1250A, 1600A and 2000A.

Modular design:Available in 14, 18, 22, 28, 33 and 44 modules. Each module measures 35mm. The total number of modules determines the height of the chassis. The configuration of the chassis can be altered by easily removing or adding tee-offs.Number of modules required for each type of MCCB: NS100 to NS250: 3 modulesNS400 and NS630: 4 modulesNS630b to NS1250: 6 modules

Flexible chassis:The NMC chassis can be designed in top, bottom, dual or center feed. It also comes in a single-sided or double-sided layout.

Insulated system:The busbars are fully enclosed and have colour coded tee-offs for connection to the MCCBs.

Type Tested:Manufactured and tested in accordance with:TCA100267 - Withstand current: 63kA rms for 1s - Peak Withstand current: 139kA peakTCA100639 - 11.2kV impulse testTCA100382 - Degree of protection: IP2XInterruption tests:– NS250H at 63kA – test report No. 7015.B– NS630H at 63kA – test report No. 7015.BFor the interruption test, the NMC chassis was fitted inside an enclosure with escutcheon fitted. Test CB was mounted between two adjacent CB’s, and three CB’s were mounted opposite. All CB’s were line side fed. No terminal shields were fitted. When IP2X chassis brackets are used, we recommend you use a terminal shield and rear insulating screen on load side of CB. The tests were in accordance with clause 8.2.3 of Australian Standard AS3439.1.

Protection: Finger safe IP2X protection can be achieved by the addition of the following components (report TCA No.100382):• IP2X circuit breaker bracket and insulating screen• Short terminal shields on line side and long terminal shields on load side.

Order procedure:To order a NMC chassis, fill out the layout sheet on page 7 and fax it to Schneider Electric Customer Service Center or hand it in to a Schneider Electric Sales Engineer.

NMC ChassisLayout Sheet

Notes:

1. Add the total quantity of modules to calculate the total size of the chassis.

2. For single-sided chassis, ensure that the load side (customer cable connection) of

ALL circuit breakers is clearly marked on the layout diagram.

3. If a NS630b/1250 is mounted at the top or bottom of the chassis, an extra

module is required at the extremity of the chassis for mounting the internal

busbars insulators.

4. 1 module is also required between 2 x NS630b/1250 mounted side by side.

5. 1000V MCCB’s can only be used on single sided chassis. 1 module space is

required between each 1000V breaker and IP2X support brackets must be used.

6. For NS630b/1250 on double sided chassis, identify if the load side of the breaker

is on the left or the right.

7. Include 33130NMC (modified 3p rear terminal shield) in BOM for all NS630b/1250

to be mounted on the NMC chassis.
