Disassembly - Step 1
Power off your Atrix 2
Remove the battery cover, battery, Sim Card, and Micro SD card
Remove the nine (9) Torx T5 Screws
*Note that these screws are the same sizes
Disassembly - Step 2
Pry the back plastic housing from the rest of the device using a pry tool. We suggest starting near the lower button and prying up, releasing the clips holding the housing in place.
Once all the clips are released you can remove the back housing completely.
Removing the Motherboard - 1
Release the following pop connectors by prying the cables up with a pry tool:
Speaker / Camera Flex Cable
Touch Screen Digitizer Flex
LCD Screen Flex
Removing the Motherboard - 2
With all the flex cables released, you can now pry up the motherboard and remove it fully from the Atrix 2
Removing the Metal Plate
Be sure to put the speaker/camera flex cable to the side. This should lift out easily with a pry tool.
Remove the eight (8) Torx T5 screws
You can then remove the metal plate by using a pry tool to lift it from the bottom
Removing the LCD Screen
In order to remove the LCD screen from the front housing you will need to flex the upper or lower assembly to give yourself enough room to fit a pry tool and pop the LCD from its housing.
Heating the Touch Screen Assembly
Using a heat gun or hair dryer, warm the outside edges of the touch screen assembly. This will soften the adhesive holding the screens in place. Move quickly around the edges on medium heat for about 30 seconds.

Removing the Touch Screen
With the adhesive warmed you can use a pry tool to separate the glass touch screen from the front housing. We suggest starting in this camera slot to push the touch screen away from the frame.
Prepping the Touch Screen Digitizer
Apply fresh adhesive to the front housing. We do not suggest putting adhesive on the touch screen itself for the Atrix 2.
*Be sure you do not cover any camera or sensor holes with adhesive
Installing the New Touch Screen
Begin feeding the digitizer flex through the slot in the housing. You can then press the glass firmly onto the frame, insuring you have removed the screen protector and wiped away any debris from the screen.
Installing the LCD Screen
Press the LCD screen firmly into the front housing.
If you have replaced the LCD screen, be sure to remove the screen protector and cleared the screen from dust/finger prints, etc.
Re-Assembling the Metal Frame
Replace the eight (8) Torx T5 screws back into the metal frame.
Be sure to insert the speaker assembly prior to placing in the motherboard.
Installing the Motherboard
Place the motherboard over the metal plate.
Insert each pop connector:
Speaker Assembly Flex Cable
Touch Screen Digitizer Flex
LCD Screen Flex
Almost Done!!
Place the back housing over the motherboard and press it firmly in place until all clips are secure.
Replace the following:
Nine (9) Torx T5 screws Sim Card Micro SD Card Battery Back Battery Cover
Success!!
And there you have it! Your Atrix 2 MB865 is now looking and working like new again!
