MOTOR TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT. Act No. 29, 1937. An Act to provide for the more effective control of the speed of motor vehicles upon public streets; to validate certain matters; for these and other purposes to amend the Motor Traffic Act, 1909-1930, the Metro- politan Traffic Act, 1900, the Transport Act, 1930, and certain other Acts in certain respects; and for purposes con- nected therewith. [Assented to, 22nd Decem- ber, 1937.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :— 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act, 1937." (2) The Motor Traffic Act, 1909-1930, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Motor Traffic Act, 1909-1937. 2. (1) The Motor Traffic Act, 1909-1930, as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended by inserting next after section four the following new sections:— 4A. (1) (a) Any person who drives a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding thirty miles per hour upon any public street in a built-up area shall be guilty of an offence under this Act. (b) Any person who drives a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding fifty miles per hour upon any public street (not being a public street in a built-up area shall be guilty of an offence under this
