Brief

• Corporate Profile – A summary of the business

• Market Position – An evaluation of the company’s service/product in

relation to the competition

• Communication Task – What’s the message trying to be conveyed and

through what means (e.g. taglines, body copy, photography, etc.)

• Target Market – Demographics — the age, gender, income, employment,

geography, lifestyle of those the client wants to reach

• Competitor Analysis – Performing an audit/review of competing

websites and apps; conducting user testing of competing sites; writing a

report that summarizes the competitive landscape

User Research

• Contextual Interviews – Enable you to observe users in their natural

environment, giving you a better understanding of the way users work.

• Focus Groups – Moderated discussion with a group of users, allow you

to learn about user attitudes, ideas, and desires.

• Personas – The creation of a representative user based on available data

and user interviews. Though the personal details of the persona may be

fiction, the information used to create the user type is not.

• Usability Testing – Identifies user frustrations and problems with your

site through one-on-one sessions where a "real-life" user performs tasks

on your site.

Concept

• Sitemap – Sitemaps are a hierarchical diagram showing the structure of a

website or application

• Wireframe – A wireframe is a page schematic or screen blueprint of a

website or application. The wireframe depicts the page layout or

arrangement of the website’s content, including interface elements and

navigational systems, and how they work together.

• Paper Prototype – Paper prototyping is the process of creating rough,

often hand-sketched, drawings of a user interface, and using them in a

usability test to gather feedback

• Mood Board – A mood board is a collage, either physical or digital, which

is intended to communicate the visual style a direction is heading (or

should be heading)

Design

• Visual Mockup – Represents the structure of information, visualizes the

content and demonstrates the basic functionalities in a static way

• Design Evaluation – Together with the client will evaluate the visual

presentation against the brief and guidelines

• Revisions/ Iterations – Revisions will be made if needed to achieve

client desired look

• Design Spec – A detailed design specification document to communicate

with front-end developers

Launch

• A/B Testing – Good for testing new or experimental features before

releasing them to all customers

• Beta Launch – Releasing a closed beta release of your product involves

allowing only a select group of users to use the software and provide

feedback before it becomes available to the wider public

• Celebration – There’s nothing more rewarding than turning over a

completed project to a satisfied client, so we congratulate ourself.
