Prerequisites: Must be competent to independently cast on, knit and purl, experience knitting in the round on double pointed needles is strongly recommended. Class: BasicMittens Cost:$45 Dates/Time: Fridays, February 5 & 12 from 5:30-7:30 pm Duration: 2 classes, each class is 2 hours Skills Learned: Mittens are easy to knit when you have simple directions! Learn how to make a basic mitten on double-pointed needles in a worsted weight wool. We’ll teach you how to increase for a thumb gusset, how to make your thumb and a simple decrease to finish both thumb and the mitt. Think warm and cozy! Class: AfghanSquare-of-the-MonthClub Cost:$160 Duration: This is a 12-month project which began October 2015, knitting 1 afghan square a month. New members are welcome and will start on square #5 at the February 13th class. You can make up the first 4 squares and Melly will gladly help you. Dates/Time: Second Saturday of each month starting February 13, 2:00-3:00 pm Skills Learned: Through the year you’ll learn how to read a chart, knit bobbles, do simple decreases, knit cables, do slip stitch among others. In the end you’ll learn how to put it all together with finishing techniques. Class: Pop!Mini-Blanket Cost:$75 Dates/Time: Saturdays, January 30 & March 12 from 1:00-4:00 pm Duration: 2 classes, each class is 3 hours Skills Learned: Learn to knit, block, and join squares using the Pop! Blanket pattern. In the first class, we will create one (or more) squares using the pinhole cast-on, knitting in the round, increasing, short rows and suspended bind-off. In the second class, we will continue knitting, answer questions and learn how to block and join squares to make the blanket. Participants should come to the second class with at least four squares completed in order to learn to join the finished squares with crochet. Note: finished blanket measures 25” x 33” but you may make it as large as you’d like although this will require purchase of additional yarn. Prerequisites: Must be competent to independently cast on, knit and purl, experience knitting in the round on double-pointed needles is strongly recommended. Included: Yarn, Pop!
